I understand the ideal of the Village comp. I just believe the reality is something different. Look at the teams in the GF, most if not all play Schools football(many of them in their Schools 2's & 3's). It appears to me the rationale supporting the Village structure is keen dads who have been...

I think you are right, they have appointed him. They just don't have the guts to announce it. Xmas eve...........

I'm not convinced this is still the case. If you removed all kids who play Saturday School football, how many are left? I say very very few. this competition in it's current format is no longer relevant. In terms of the GPS rockstars, I agree that this comp is somewhat a victim of it's own...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

School fees may well be $28k, that is not the actual cost to the School. It costs no more to have 23 in a class than 22! Opportunity cost, only if there is a list of aspiring students hoping to be accepted by the School.

"Leftovers" was a poor choice of wording, so I am happy to apologise. The point of my post was the weakness of the Sydney comp for this age group, which I believe is a valid point. I wish all those involved the very best, and hope they enjoy their experience with the side. However, you are in...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

That is the whole issue to me, Arts and Academic Scholarships are handed out transperantlty and it's all above board. Sporting scholarships are not handled in an open, honest and transparent manner. If they don't list them on their website for all to apply, then they should not offer them.

Don't be so precious, most of these kids would acknowledge that the players selected in the Schools side are better performed than they are. Which is to be expected when the Sydney "A" comp consists of half the number of teams that Joeys fields each week.

What fatuous analogy. They do not celebrate athletic Scholarships because they are clearly not proud about offering them. Lesson in life, if you are doing anything you are not proud of. Stop doing it.

School acknowledge and celebrate Scholarship holders for musical & academic excellence, they should also do it with their athletic scholarships.

The players selected are "leftovers" There are players in this squad who did not make their School 1st's. It is a good demonstration of the strength in Village Rugby at this age.

Then there are the deniers, who deny point blank anyone from their School is a recipient. The obfuscators, who want to shift the focus on how it's really the other Schools that are cheats. For the record, Kings,Scots and New have provided free tuition to kids on the basis of their Rugby ability...

Why is Marto employed as a commentator?

I am a big enough Male Chauvinist pig to prefer a couple of good sorts, rather than Kearns & Marto, if Foxtel insist on providing cheerleaders in lieu of commentators.

I would prefer McCabe 15 and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) 13 than vice versa

    Shute Shield 2012

No it's not well done to Uni. Arguments that suggest that the weaker clubs should replicate Uni practises are facile. If they believe they have the best facilities, the best coaches, and that colts want to play there(all of which appear to be self evident) Why don't they have confidence in their...

    Shute Shield 2012

The points system is flawed, and Uni are exploiting the current system to their best advantage(as is their right) Stirzaker is a good example, he played Gordon reps since age 10,played Schoolboys and ended up at Uni. he spends his off season with his professional side, and now joins Uni for the...

    Shute Shield 2012

I think the point was more about Hangaana being superior to the grade he was playing in, coming from a professional contract in the last days/weeks of the comp etc. Clearly it is within the rules, I for one think very poorly of people that think winning colts 3's, is more important than...
