Well, ultimately it wasn't the ARU's decision alone to reduce the number of teams in Super Rugby, but the ARU did choose to agree to cut the number of Australian teams down to 4 teams and which team to cut.

This isn't exactly news.......... it's always been the ARU's decision on which team to cut. The members of SANZAAR agreed to cut a team......... decisions need to be unanimous so if the ARU voted against the cut it wouldn't have happened.......... Again, this isn't new information.
