NRC Law Variations - have your say

Reading so far there are a few suggestions I quite like. The scoring team kicking off could be interesting as could moving the 22m kick back to the goal line to reward attacking endeavour and precision kicking. I'd personally like to see the short arm for evetything apart from professional...

    USA and Canadian Rugby

I agree re:15s and I think that will come in time. Probably soon after this if it gains traction. I think we need to accept that UWS will choose the format that best suits their business plan then they'll likely just do it. What is most interesting is that the IRB have sigbed off on the concept...

    USA and Canadian Rugby

Omar & PW, For what it's worth I'm not entirely sold on the use of 7s as the format in the exhibition. I think a 7s game over 48 minutes is too long and as suggested be too high scoring. Effectively it could descend into farce. I actually think it might work with the 10s format or even 11. It...

    USA and Canadian Rugby

Another interesring bit of news to emerge frim the States. United World Sports the company that operates both the Las Vegas 7s and the Collegiate Rugby Championship (7s as well) will be running an exhibition of their Super 7s concept at the CRC event in Philadelphia. On live TV. They are...

He's out with a broken leg, isn't he? Siddal would be by far the better choice from what I've seen. Does he have a contract yet. There was some talk of one on the horizon. Another option could be the young man who lead St Mary's to the D-1A title over life. Though evidently kis kicking game...

Sinkers – atlci – Super Rugby

As I see it, we are already going with three so why not just take the jump to 5. I think it could be done without too much damage to the standard if recruitment was opened up a bit. From our perspective, there are plenty of PI players plying their trade in Europe who could be lured back to...

Sinkers – atlci – Super Rugby

I'm just going to throw it out there and suggest that they might as well look to go to 20 teams. Evidently those behind Sarries are interested and then there's the argument for two Argentine squads which makes sense. Instead of looking to Europe or entering an Asian/West Coast NA team to the...

    Super what?

New TV markets to sell advertising and content to.

    Exit from Super Rugby?

Couldn't be any worse than the format floated. Frankly we should look to national competitions as a qualifier for a Cup competition. Could even look to emulate what has been done in Europe. Either way. Still better than what we may end up with.

    Exit from Super Rugby?

Utterly ridiculous set up. Pushing the Aus and NZ conferences to 6 teams with inclusion of two Asian team or an Asian team and an Argentine team or something along those lines would have been a better compromise than this set up.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I thought I read that is was relatively successful. Though I could understand why it wouldn't be all that successful as we aren't a big Winter Olympics nation.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The next two or three Olympics will be in time zones that aren't exactly beneficial to our viewing audiences.

    Super Rugby Television Ratings 2014

Well, its taken the A-League finals series for it to finally get above Super Rugby this season. Not too bad.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

I agree. If they manged to draw around 3,000 to a game it would look a lot better at a near full TG Milner or St Mary's than Pirtek Stadium. It's also more realistic for the number likely to look at TG and probably far less expensive.

Rugby League players who could have/could make the switch

Fairly certain he played for the Tahs before he played for the Knights.

    Exit from Super Rugby?

That would be mine as well. I could take it or leave it in regards to Asian involvement at this point in time but it could add a different flavour. Who knows? Either way, I think Super Rugby is set for aggressive expansion if it continues well into the future but in order for it to be sustainable it...

    Exit from Super Rugby?

If the NRC serves one of its primary purposes and helps elevate the standard of all play above it then, great. Using the Wallabies as the primary driver of growth could present reasonable returns. However, most people will only ever see 6 games a year with under that model. Most won't tune...

    Exit from Super Rugby?

Which demonstrates the growth in the league.Sure it's not huge but when you consider its ranking in terms of worldwide Soccer leagues its not that bad. It still demonstrates that you can build new leagues with new entities in today's sporting market. Tradition isn't the defining factor. It's...

    Exit from Super Rugby?

The BBL and A-League would suggest that tradition isn't necessarily all that important in attracting new fans. It's the product (I hate referring to it in that manner) that draws in fans and interest.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

Absolutely. It's the fact that Rugby is so under served in particular in the West of the City that will draw people to a team that represents them and for those behind the teams. Drive them to engage with them more.
