    Rugby News from unexpected places

Not at all, just removing any suggestion or perception of vested interest/bias. Rugby must the last bastion for ignoring perceptions.

    Rugby World Cup 2019

I just don't get the apologists looking to justify incredibly bad decisions by officials. And there are a few of them on this site. To even contemplate that a referee can't be replaced because appointments had been made some time previously is just head in the sand stuff. What would happen if...

    Reds 2018

Welcome to the bandwagon BH. I've been banging on about Philip at 6 for the Wallabies since this time last year, but so far as I can remember, Shiggins was the only other poster to give the idea any support at all, and that might not be a true endorsement. However, now with you on board...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I think the general gist BH is that there are too many management types still there. Staff haven't really been mentioned as far as I can see.

    Predictions!

I wonder if it's too soon to predict the Aussie sides to finish mainly in front of the SA conference? Tahs have beaten the Stormers and drawn with the Sharks; Reds have beaten the Bulls; Brumbies have beaten the Sharks and the Rebels have beaten two of the other three Aus sides. Things might...

Super Rugby Round 5 2018 - Brumbies vs Sharks

Thanks for the run of posts Dru. Had radio coverage of the first half (unusual) but the whole caravan park in Bendigo went dark right on half time and didn't come back until after full time. Rugby Gods are unhappy I am touring in enemy territory.

I am in no doubt that Harry Lloyd will prove to be a very good pick up.

    Super Rugby Rd 5, - Reds v Jaguares - 18/3 - 7.40am Buenos Aires

I didn't say they'd win the comp (at least not this year) but I do expect they will be very competitive in the next two games and will be a very good chance of returning with two wins under the belt.

Super Rugby Round 5 2018 - Brumbies vs Sharks

Am happy to see Muirhead get a chance at 15. I think he's been in better form this year than Banks, but I also have a hankering to see Tom at 13 to giove Tevita a much needed kick up the rear to get him back to his best. Ironically, the backrow is the weakest part of the team, and that was...

Super Rugby Round 5, Waratahs vs Rebels - Sunday 18 March @ 4pm

I am anticipating a decisive win to the Rebels. They are in form, and really have the nucleus of the forthcoming Wallabies sides for the June tests. They need to win large, not just for themselves but for Aus rugby as a whole. If they fail this test, the remainder of the year will resemble the...

    Super Rugby Rd 5, - Reds v Jaguares - 18/3 - 7.40am Buenos Aires

Reds are starting to look a bit like the young side in 2010/2011 who improved just about every game to eventually take out the comp. They might not go the whole way with this squad (but they might), but I think they are real chances to win the next two games on tour.

Charges were not brought against either of Higgers or Smith as I understand. Just what punishments were handed out to them for non-offences?

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

Yep, think it's a little insulting to be referring to sugar daddies when people like Forrest are willing to put up to back up their goals. I'd be more than surprised if any of the remaining Super Rugby sides would look a wealthy benefactor gift horse in the mouth.

I agree with TOCC and others that Kuridrani will continue to edge Kerevi out of the national side, even though at the moment I wouldn't be unhappy to see him (Kuridrani) dropped to the bench by the Brumbies to get his head/fitness or whatever into gear for the Super Rugby season. On the basis of no...

    Reds 2018

My memory is perhaps fading, but I would have sworn he played No 9 in most of the games that year. I remember forming the opinion that he and Higgers were outstanding in the ARC.

Reg, I don't doubt that for a moment. Probably, what I meant to convey would have been better expressed as coming to notice of fans outside of Brisbane.

Super Rugby Round 4, 2018 - Jaguares vs Waratahs @ Buenos Aires

Really looking to me that both the Brumbies and Tahs have real coaching issues. Neither team appears to have a discenable game plan, especially when in possession, and they are relying on individuals to make the initial line breaks. Contrast with Wessells at the Rebels, where the team appears to...

    Brumbies 2018

There must be a bit of a question, at least, about the makeup of the coaching panel this year. Three out and out forwards/scrum coaches in McKellar, Fisher and Palmer. Must lead to some differences of opinion in how to approach games, and if so, would quite clearly have an affect on the players...
