    NRC Expansion

Never said anything about it being in the immediate future. But I think it's something worth at least investigating. Could offer some interesting mixes. You could have the Black Falcons, Darwin Mozzies, the Tasmania Jackjumpers play against some of the stronger country regions from both NSW and Qld.

    NRC Expansion

I wouldn't mind seeing something like a heartland championship some time in the future as long as is was feasible. Would certainly be an interesting development tool.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The crazy thing about Sheek from The Roar is that historically he's been a huge advocate for the ARC and a return to that structure. Which makes his position on the NRC just ridiculous especially considering his initial gripe with it was over something as trivial as the names of the teams...

    NRC Expansion

Realistically if you went about developing an Adelaide squad they wouldn't be ready for inclusion for at least 4 years. I haven't been suggesting they should be thrown into deep end placing undue financial strain on already limited resources. However, I agree with Kiap that if someone is...

    NRC Expansion

It would be more an indicator of development rather than proof of semi pro potential. Though having said that even though the NSW and QLD squads are split up any Adelaide based squad that won the JGC would indicate a fairly comparable talent level as they would have to overcome state team squads...

    NRC Expansion

On the recruitment side of it. Perhaps a somewhat left of centre suggestion. But perhaps an Adelaide team could be the ideal development opportunity for prospective U20s for the next year.

    NRC Expansion

That was part of my thinking process. It would allow teams in their bye week the opportunity to maintain cohesion as a group by playing aspiring "provinces". You could even potentially break it down geographically. If a North Queensland group was interested they could play both City and Country...

    NRC Expansion

Regarding Adelaide. I think the bye weeks for NRC teams should be utilised more by the ARU and SARU to test the viability of a Black Falcons squad entering the NRC in the coming years. It wouldn't need to be every week but say 4 games to gage what needs to be addressed to ensure that they will...

    The League Media

That's the driving force behind the law variations in the NRC. Rugby suffers from a problem of perception more than anything else. People believe it's slow and boring. They are told its boring so it must be true. Anybody who watches Super Rugby, ITM Cup, Currie Cup and now the NRC would argue the league...

    National Rugby Championship 2014

Probably more to do with the Reds form. Though if City were able to get their entire compliment on the pitch at any one time they'd be very dangerous. From my perspective the teams who are going to find this season the most difficult are the Sydney teams. They have to stretch the pro players...

    Perth Spirit News

The confidence these local club boys would have got not only out of the game on the weekend but will build throughout the NRC will be great for not only the Force but the club game on Perth itself. Others will work harder to best these guys for the chance to play in the NRC. The benefit this...

    National Rugby Championship 2014

I I expect them to improve as they become more familiar with one another. The main Rams squad didn't get together until early this week with the weather not helping. Most of these guys haven't played with one another. Same could be said of the Qld teams but the NSW teams have the least number...

    National Rugby Championship 2014

Not a great start for the Sydney teams but I think they'll improve in the coming weeks. Still seeing as the club heavy Spirit overcame the Brumbies laden Vikings that they and Melbourne are definitely in poll position.

    National Rugby Championship 2014

I agree. I think we'll see an average of between 7-8 tries a game when we look back on the competition in November. That doesn't mean the defences won't stiffen as combinations develop.

    National Rugby Championship 2014

Yeah, and the positive rugby played should help to draw more to the games in the future hopefully. The defence of the teams will stiffen up but I think the endeavour will continue. Which should make for great rugby.

    Watching NRC online...got links?

I've watched it three times now.

Brisbane City vs. Sydney Stars - NRC Round 1, 21/08 @ Ballymore

A lot of the Uni guys that would usually return will be playing for other teams. It has put questions on their which they have answered. They have quite a young team that's developing. While I think the Stars may find it a little tough this year but they'll be better next year.

    National Rugby Championship 2014

Honestly no. I knew who was who. Different shades of yellow made it easier. For the most part I don't think the clashes will be too difficult to distinguish however when the Stars and the Spirit meet that could be a different story.

    National Rugby Championship 2014

Interestingly enough. Over on The Roar an Aussie bloke living in SA mentioned that this game was actually broadcast via DSTV in the Republic. He and his co-workers were impressed by the game. Made the comparison between it and the ITM Cup. The Currie Cup comment is a little silly for mine. To...
