I actually think the NRC would be a good fit for the likes of Ten. They seem to do a good job of tournament like Leagues if the BBL is any guide.

So who is our main threat?Wouldn't England be excluded from contention as they don't actually compete in the Olympics or have they decided that the highest ranked team from the UK would assume the GB? Otherwise, we do have a handy gap on both Argentina and the USA.

26k!!! Try about 15k at most. Lots of empty seats. The ratings for the All Star game were around 450k which considering the level of hype and promotion that went into it is actually pretty poor. About half of what the last edition got apparently. It completely bombed in NZ with 21,000 at its peak.

Pretty sure those are a little up on last season. Certainly better than most A-League games.

There's a whole swathe of promotion options that are low to practically no cost that the ARU/Unions and franchises could be employing. They could even get out among the grassroots of the game popping up at junior games. Part of the success of the BBL has been their focus on kids and women...

In terms of promoting the NRC. There is a good YouTube clip a few pages back. It's quite well done. The ARU should be looking for more of that. Set a competition asking for fans to produce a promo ad. Put it to the public to vote and the winner has it played at Super Rugby games and on Foxsports. Could...

I think a double header involving derbies in Sydney would be a good idea for the 4 NSW teams to start the NRC. However, it would require a lot of promoting during the back half of the Super Rugby season via as suggested the Tahs/ARU social media and games.

A little under a 1/4 full. It would be good if the Tahs could commit to playing trials at the ground in the coming seasons. Or at the likes of Campbelltown Showground home of the Harlequins.

Would have been interesting if Bein bid for the rights.

That's great to read about. Hopefully the Tahs are informing their fans and providing links so they can get good numbers watching if they cannot get there in person.

If you were only offering Super Rugby then yes. But the key to drawing in the maximum number of subscribers is offering as high a value as possible. We actually have a far broader range of competitions in which to offer the market and should look to do just that.

I was thinking more along $12.99/month or something but going through my list $20/month may be more than fair.

It would require a combined effort on behalf of all the Unions involved in Super Rugby as a means of providing enough content create the necessary value to realistically ask those sort of prices. But it could be possible. Certainly worth it if you can gain access to; Super Rugby NRC, ITM Cup...

Not this round of rights but they should certainly be investigating the cost, customer base, financial modelling etc. in the period between know and the next run of rights. If the customer base is big enough taking control of its own broadcasting could be a big win for the competition.
