Channel 9 continues the tradition of absymal free to air rugby coverage...

What are they showing at the same time in Vic, SA and WA? I would've thought that the Wallabies v Ireland WC game would pull more viewers in those states, if Nine has chosen the NRL semi; the only one that might be tight is Vic if the Storm are in the semi.

    Wallabies V Samoa - Test 2011

The flying spaghetti monster and invisible pink unicorn have yet to return my phone calls, but I live in hope.

    Super Rugby Finals

I reckon 2006 (Crusaders v Canes) is a memorable game, although it's a little foggy in my memory.

    Waratahs 2012

So when is this whole "where is Rocky going to play?" issue going to get settled?

    Waratahs 2012

You're getting out of context, I was merely correcting the belief that Jenkins' 31 tackles in one game, whilst impressive, was (implied easily) the most of the year. If I recall correctly, Saffy hit 40 in several games. But as Baabaa said, it's hard to judge a 3-game replacement player...

    G&GR Fantasy Super Rugby 2011

Well done on the 10k meeks. Remember your friends here when your friends here when you start shouting some rounds! I think I just made 10th in the G&GR league - an effort it was, too. A few sketchy weeks at the end had me hovering close to the tweens. 10th in the G&GR league also got me...

    Waratahs 2012

I would think that the Rebels would be the best chance for Jono Jenkins, as Lipman will likely only have a year left and Saffy will play both 6 and 7, leaving an opportunity/requirement for a (backup?) 7 at the Rebels into the future.

So, the Australian scrum. Am I worrying too much?

I agree with Gnostic, Vickerman was awful in that 2007 semi vs England. There was a good reason, though, as Vickerman was coming back from a long term injury straight into the World Cup with no game time (if I remember correctly, it was no game time). Realistically, he was never a shot at...

    Rugby - not set pieces

Bad terminology. They should either get it right, and say it's for not releasing after making an attempt to play the ball, or introduce "double movement" as correct terminology (that is, making two attempts to place/play the ball). Oh, and Otago is absolutely giving it to Harbour. Interesting...

Mark Gasnier announces his retirement from mungoland. To come to Rugby?

Cyclo; all of a sudden I feel like saucy pies for dinner!

Channel 9 continues the tradition of absymal free to air rugby coverage...

I wrote a reply to Dean Ritche's blog explaining the ratings from the 2003 RWC (4m), how it dominated the capital cities, and how they eclipsed both the NRL final of that year (that was at 1.2M in Sydney, compared to the RWC final over 2M in Sydney) and SOO from this year (3.4M viewers). I took...

Mark Gasnier announces his retirement from mungoland. To come to Rugby?

The stories I read said that the Toey Human was retiring from professional sport. But with the quality of league (or indeed, Australian) journalism, who knows. I would be shocked if he went to rugby, though. I fail to see why he would.

    Waratahs 2012

I suggest you go look at some stats. For Aus players alone, Saffy would be a good place to start. But I agree that Jenkins has shown enough in his limited opportunities to get a contract as a shadow open side.

    Samo Samo Samo!

Oh, and if I remember correctly, it was the game that stuck Ben Blair into Crusader folklore. Many Crusader fan are still bitter about his performance and refer to bad finals performances as "Ben Blair-esque". I reckon this was also a prime reason why the talented young fullback soon went...

    Samo Samo Samo!

What sticks in my mind from that game is the first 20 minutes, which were just all Brumbies. The Brumbies won that game in the first 20, where they just dominated the Crusaders across the park. If I remember correctly, it was a fairly even game after that first 20 or 30 minutes.

Benn Robinson Ruled Out for the 2011 Season with Injury

For me, their have only been two Aus looseheads who have successfully attacked opposition scrums: Robinson (who was the more destructive) and Kepu. When you combine that with the three best props in the squad were likely Robinson, Kepu and Slipper, then by shifting Kepu you still get your best...

Benn Robinson Ruled Out for the 2011 Season with Injury

Because of Slipper's performance in the EOYT last year, and his performances at the start of the S15 season this year. A lot of the time the Reds' scrum crumpled it didn't look to be Slipper's fault.

    Rob Horne

I didn't think that Horne was up to his standard for a few weeks, though, until a bit after midway into the season. It took until the end until he was in sparkling form, too. Horne really took until late in the season to stand out for me, especially those last few weeks of the regular season -...

Benn Robinson Ruled Out for the 2011 Season with Injury

Robinson is our best attacking / most destructive scrummager. He will be a huge loss to our scrum, and he was damn handy around the field as well. I was impressed by Kepu at LH, though, when he kept Robinson on the bench early in the season at the Tahs. I actually think Kepu may be our second...

    Rob Horne

Sorry, might be start of 2009, where he was poor for the first weeks, then got injured again. Either way, the years seem to run together to me. Either way, you can pick apart one statement, or actually try to argue the point, qwerty. Why don't you instead provide evidence where Horne has...
