    Un-Australian Activities 2018

WR (World Rugby)'s problem I think WOB. They have issued the edict that anything over the shoulder is high and has to be penalised. Many over the shoulder tackles go nowhere near the head, and should be allowed to play on. This interpretation of a dangerous tackle has gone against just about every team in...

World Series Rugby: Rd1 Western Force VS Fiji NIB Stadium PerthWA 06:30 PM WST

That pickup could not have been a fluke. I would be confident the player has practised and practised that as a skill, to the point where he was confident that he could do it in a game situation. Looked like he didn't even have any doubt about his ability, he just did it. All skills could be...

    Brumbies 2018

The lack of dummy runner options just adds to the failure to draw and pass when moving the ball along the backline. From my viewing, the single most effective way to break the line is to take it on and be prepared and able to off load just as the tackling player is committed to stop the ball...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Also, I noticed an apparent penchant for NZ players to lie on the ground dying whenever the Aussie side looked like getting on a roll. A couple were injured and were replaced but some were up and into the game again after a period that seemed designed to give their team a breather before...

    Where to for Twiggy Rugby?

The importance of being publicly supported by WR (World Rugby) cannot be glossed over. RA is looking to be heading towards irrelevancy.

    Australian Rugby / RA

And, right now, I think he'd be throwing a bigger bundle at RA and supporting the Super competition if he went that way than he is likely (and apparently, willing) to throw at rugby in the proposed RWC.

Certainly not the worst idea UTG, but I fear we'll fill any wing vacancy with a N013 playing out of position (Hodge, Rona).

Must be running very short of quality back rowers. How is Patrick Sio going in SS? Or Ward at the Rats?

And from the outside Wamb, you are sure that "Twiggy needs to listen to some dissenting voices"? What do you base that observation on if not just from how it appears to you, as appearances are what I base my comments on as well.

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

My take on some of the players and aspects of the game. Scrum and lineout aside, Hockings is a powder puff, almost waste of a spot in the team for his lack of involvement in open play. Lucas is a ball hog. Sure, he can step but 9 times out of ten dies with the ball, even when he has support...

    Rebels 2018

As there were many posters in recent year suggesting Stirzaker was a Wallaby in waiting. Honestly, can't see that Stirzaker would add any more than Ruru does to a team that is showing all signs of cohesion breakdown. Add Koriobete to the list of Rebels playing themselves out of Wallaby contention.

    Australian Rugby / RA

From the outside, it looks to me that WR (World Rugby) is listening to Forrest, but that RA is deaf to both.

He must have some idea, because he gets beaten so many times himself surely he can learn from experience?

Rd 12 2018 NSFW Waratahs vs Auckland Blues. 36 and 1.

Releasing the tackled player has been confined to history by the referees this year.

Rd 12 2018 NSFW Waratahs vs Auckland Blues. 36 and 1.

The logic is that had the tackle occurred say a metre further infield, then it would be unlikely that a legitimate tackle would have put him into touch and then a penalty try would have ensued. Not sure if that logic is consistent with the laws, but it is logic nevertheless.

Good grief, as Charlie Brown would say.

Wasn't there a player last year he brought into the side with very few minutes of actual game time? Have it in mind was Hanigan, but maybe Dempsey. Anyway, I'm sure there was someone in a similar situation to Phipps and so the precedent is there, I think. And wasn't Beale also brought in on very...

I think you'll find that the two periods did indeed overlap, by something like 8 minutes or so as I recall.

    Worst Commentator Pole Action

Can't agree, Dan. That's just a cop out imo. Most of the commentators who are held in low regard are criticised by fans of all sides, including for example Kearns and Martin, who are lambasted by fans of the Tahs and Reds respectively as they are by all other fans. Most of the commentators...

    Super Rugby Round 12, Rebels v Crusaders - Friday 4 May @ 7:45pm

For the umpteenth time this year, Koriobete again displayed none of the skills required to play test rugby. His defensive play, both positional and tackling, is way sub-standard and he offered no attack at all last night. Cannot in any way be considered for the Wallabies this year. Naivalu is...
