    Where to for Super Rugby?

Well, that's where our opinions differ. IMO a fully domestic comp will not attract the sponsorship or tv dollars that the ARU presently get. And not by a long shot again imo. So I'd expect the number of players on contract will diminish substantially and those contracts will contract in value...

Australia vs South Africa 8th September

WOB, maybe we should take this discussion elsewhere, but just one question. It always seems to me that the points awarded to a team beating one rated above them is the same as the points lost by the losing team. Am I wrong?

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Dru, the Vikings, Qld Country and Rising teams all had a largish sprinkling of professional Super Rugby players. It is the likelihood that a large portion of those players will move to greener pastures overseas, as there will be less money available to pay so many contracts, that works against...

NRC Rnd 1: Canberra Vikings vs Queensland Country

It'd be a nightmare being caught in that particular revolving door.

Arnold is definitely the closest we've got to Retallick, and I have no doubt he would have been starting v Ireland had he not been suspended at the time. He was the form Lock in Aus over the Super season prior to his suspension (which incidentally wouldn't be more than a penalty in these latter...

Actually, I should think that makes his form in the open even better. TH prop is very taxing.

Reg, what are those Qld coaching monkeys up to? Don't they realise we need LH props to bolster the Wallabies? We're quite well off for the TH side atm.;)

    Fiji

Lomani put in another very impressive game at No 9. Must have about the best long pass of any No 9s going round. A worthy MOTM performance v the Rising.

NRC Rnd 1: Canberra Vikings vs Queensland Country

Slipper came out at LH prop despite the team sheet, and had a blinder. He is ready if he gets the call from Cheika. I cannot agree with Slim's almost ecstatic take on JJH. To me, he was fairly ordinary at 12 but improved when he shifted to 10. I don't think he will be more than a good fill in...

NRC Rnd 1: Fiji Drua vs Melbourne Rising

Don't throw too many kudos Canberra way. With five Wallabies in the side, the Vikings didn't look like beating the Qld Country side this evening.

    Brumbies 2018

On the Rising's showing today, Erasmus won't be missed, but Sione and Mayhew both going has left us weak on the LH side of the front row.

NRC Rnd 1: Fiji Drua vs Melbourne Rising

Had no trouble at all with the stream. Drua with a contender for try of the year in the first half, and then nailed it in the second half. No use any one trying to score a better try than that one.

Jack Dempsey and Jack Johnson - sounds like a heavyweight title fight.

Is it a surprise that he's on the Th side? How long since he played there?

    The Wallabies Thread

The battle of the packs in open play is ostensibly 8 ABs v 7 Wallabies. And we don't even have our own man-monster there to counteract Retallick. Improvements could be made very easily and quickly. Just needs a couple of personnel changes and we'd be better at the breakdown, if not at parity.

You might be the only one judging To'omua on those 9 minutes UTG. While he has split his time over the years playing 10 and 12, both here and overseas, he was a better all round, more skilful player than Foley and his form seems to have carried on in the UK. He won't have forgotten how to play...

JB, do you think he fared well in Bledisloe 2 when the pack was at least at parity? If managing the backline is a measure of the No 10, then it would be best to forget all about his efforts last time around.

    The Wallabies Thread

That's an urban myth D. Beale plays 10 currently for around half of each test match. He is constantly in first receiver and he looks quite a bit more creative than Foley when he does. If he played 10, he would no doubt share the 10 and 12 spots with whomever was put in the 12 jersey...
