ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

I was simply showing a gap between the 2, agree with you, is it a bridge we need?

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

TOCC - you guys both post quality well thought out stuff. Quick Hands did say leave it to the locals in QLD - shit if the locals come back and say 3 teams would be appropriate, it gets tweaked a little. A KISS model - given the quality of games in the second half of last year - top 6, maybe...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

I don't think Quick Hands referenced timing I think he simply referenced his ideal structure both geographic and dize

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

You think. I know.;) I think the top 6 split in the SS last year although had it's weakness - it highlighted some very quality rugby.

Shute 2012 the top 6 / bottom 6 structure - well the top 6 had some very high quality rugby played.

    Wallaby Locks - The Future

Or maybe if our best were playing in a comp against each other now they would be fit and ready.

    Wallaby Locks - The Future

Pyle and Neville - they even look similar with their bloody headgear on, both of then deserve a shot. Not saying they are better but they a dimensions to the game that Douglas, Horwill, Timani and Co don't.

    Shute Shield 2014

BeastieBoy I'm sure there are trolls reviewing what is posted. The interest Jpn rugby has shown in the Southern Hemisphere players is huge - we can't look at our 3rd Tier like the ITM & Currie so including Jpn is simply a different thought. Look at the game time George Smith got this year - he...

    Shute Shield 2014

I'm not sure people are pulling them down, they are pointing out that they have a structure, and an offering that other clubs can not provide. I don't have a solution, the top 3 of the CC have remained pretty consistent over recent years - Eastwood & Manly are doing good things. Some points...

    Shute Shield 2013

topo Hugh Jarse No.8 Asked the question to be constructive, not critical. I could think of 5 country boys at Uni, and I think they finished their schooling at private schools within Sydney on scholarships - so do we blame it on the Private School system for feeding Uni. I think Uni are a huge...

    Shute Shield 2013

Is that because it was a stupid question? - Uni don't have juniors they scholarship from elsewhere. or Is it because my question didn't make sense? I.e. Dave Dennis - didn't he play his juniors out west?

    Shute Shield 2013

And of those 19 players were did they play their junior rugby U6 - U16 (some 17's start stepping up to colts that's all), if someone knows it would be interesting to see.

Sydney Junior Rugby Union - 2013

It was a good year. All the kids had a ball, most will be back, and some rugby just aint their game but they all still had fun. Already have a growing list for next year which is a good sign. The hardest but also best part - Manly does have a huge paddock of Grass Roots 3 teams won the...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

True BUT They are different, I have commended them for making best use of their resources, congrats and they can still do that through the Shute. They are a huge asset for Australian Rugby and should be nurtured BUT the fact is; letting them stand alone will not strengthen rugby. they do not...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

So we now are watching the Wobblies, whilst the NRL & AFL get to put on their show. There seems to be a common chant at the moment - top tier rugby needs to be played now - it is simply the structure that is being debated. Two key points (of many many many mind you) 1. A club needs to be...
