Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

BTW, some shocking kicking from the Wallabies in general play. I think North has that.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Strong Lions maul, advantage to the Lions for offside/bringing it down. Wide to North, who falls over the line. To the TMO!

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Chip and regather from Sexton, too deep on defence. Barnes tackes Sexton, and then no sweepers but Genia from the next kick. Genia has to run it out, 7m out. Where were the deep wings dropping back?

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Both poor kick and tackle attempt from Barnes. Halfpenny kicks the conversion. Note: picking a guy who usually doesn't play fullback and has barely played a full game all season, mainly starting from the bench, in hindisght was not a good idea.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Great play and run North, appalling play from Barnes.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Barnes kicks it right to Sexton, poor kick. Genia takes it under pressure. Barnes kicks poorly to North, who makes a break, then Barnes compounds it by missing the tackle.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Halfpenny kicks it, Wallabies 7 to Lions 3.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Penalty off the lineout for coming in the side. Horwill looks to be penalised. Lions will kick for goal.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Phillips box kicks, Barnes takes it and slips. Comes back to a penalty for McCabe being offside. Genia is the man for the Wallabies right now when they have the ball.

Scrum is steady this time. Phillips makes a break from the first ruck but is caught after 20m.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

OÇonnor gets the ball and runs, nearly into his only player. Genia creates a half break for Robinson, who offloads to Ioane, but he is held up. Genia is running the attack well over the forward line thanks to some strong running forwards. JOC (James O'Connor) needs to get the backline involved.

    Cuthbert drops a sitter.

Quick tap Genia, breaks the line, grubber to Folau who scores.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

Wallabies go too quickly this time, that's one each. Lions take another scrum. Lions next scrum dominant and drive the Wallabies back. Penalty Lions. Pressure was straight through the scrum, right through the middle.

Horwill loses the ball from the restart.

Another one in a similar position. Bit harsh on O'Driscoll again, but more 50/50. Still reckon a lot of refs would've blown both in favour of the Lions. Second one is off target from JOC (James O'Connor), but it had the legs.

And JOC (James O'Connor) falls short with his kick, on target but not enough Swisse. Bit of justice, maybe.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

O'Driscoll looked unlucky there; Ioane looked to be holding on.

Australia vs British and Irish Lions - 1st Test (Brisbane)

When Barnes doesn't play at 10 for Australia he seems to chime into first receiver an awful lot, actually a little too much for my liking. Would normally like him a bit wider and let the 10 take the ball first more, but with JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 this may work better, but it then sorts of waste Lelo at 12...

Agree. Just needs to get his decision making right. Will come with experience. I actually think that Folau's got a bigger boot on him Barnes.
