    Reds 2019

No better time to lock him in than when he hasn't won a game this year and is on a 3 from 15 streak. Buy low sell high and all that.

    Reds 2019

Keep on sticking 20 year olds in there until one of them turns out to be good. How to manage your playing list Queensland Reds style

    Round 5, Sunwolves v Reds, 16/3 @ Tokyo

Last years trip to Tokyo was about as bad as it gets. Shipping 63 points to the worst team in the comp. Hopefully that was the Reds nadir and Thorn gets them up for the game this year edit - looked a fair old team on paper from last year. Lots of Wallabies and nearly-Wallabies there...

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

I've seen some research, for the NRL I think, that showed absolutely no correlation between missed tackles and winning games. I wonder if that holds true for rugby as well? I mean all being equal you'd pick the better tackler, but if it comes at the expense of defense, or putting points on the...

    Refereeing decisions

Issues like this one would make any sort of "Captains Call" really interesting. You could find a reason to block just about any try under a strict interpretation of laws

    Wallabies 2019 Thread

Hope LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and Coleman pick their act up, they both can be great players, but they're not playing like it at the moment.

    Refereeing decisions

Was just thinking that rugby ref must be the hardest gig in world sport. They have to know the laws of the game inside and out, but also have to know which ones to ignore
  9. Strewthcobber

    Refereeing decisions

Generally the ref guidance is that the tackler needs to release, then (or so) the tackled player must release the ball. But that may not fit here

    Refereeing decisions

tackler doesn't release though, in fact carries him over the try line

Would you award Ireland's first try against France on the weekend? If not, why not?

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Kayo views are likely having no impact on reported Foxtel ratings because of how they are collected. Oztam sample people who have Foxtel to work out the ratings. If you have kayo, just like if you haven't got any paytv, you aren't being asked. Ratings up = more people who have Foxtel and are...

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

The 2017 -> 2018 improvement was almost entirely due to no more 9:30pm Force home games which historically rated poorly. This year is something else, across the board rises, but especially Tahs and Rebels games are way up.

2019 TV ratings and crowd numbers

Just had a look at my records 2018 average for Aus games only was 55k. 2017 was 51k. So far in 2019, we're averaging 85k Total of all games (including Sunwolves, NZ and Aus games) up to round 4 2018 average 55k, 2017 average 52k. So far in 2019 we're averaging 70k Early start helps, and it's...

    Round 5, Sunwolves v Reds, 16/3 @ Tokyo

Hegarty must be a doubt with those ribs. He could barely take a kick for touch without doubling over in pain

    just a good googler

    Waratahs 2019

Even Suncorp has had its issues (Beale). Was pretty bad initially for knee injuries and then it took a while to recover from the floods. Hopefully turf technology has come on since then

    Waratahs 2019

The stadium is going to be great - think the Badger is more nervous about the likely state of the turf Edit aa quick google suggests turf has just been laid. 6 weeks for it to bed down. Is that enough?

    Waratahs 2019

Concord doesn't have lighting does it? Never been but it must be some journey on Parra Road or through Burwood to get there when a big crowd rolls up. North Sydney has the same oval ground issues as the scg (though granted it's smaller). Feels like watching a game through the wrong end of...
