New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

Peyper had a massive impact on the game. Very strange as I rate him quite highly as a ref. It is up to the Australians though to deal with that. Good teams get on with the job when hard done by and our lot just drop their bundle (or at least their heads). There is only one thing to do...

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

He's lost more than a metre or two. His chase down after the Simmon's intercept was unbelievably slow. He also has not side stepped anyone even remotely close to what he did prior to his injury. I don't know if the injury is still there, or if it is a lack of confidence in his knee tbh.

New Zealand vs Australia - Bledisloe 2, 24th August 2013

I don't think we should change any of the run on guys at all. Mogg didn't have the best game, but it was refreshing to have someone at the back that can actually catch a ball and run with it without having my heart in my mouth. There are larger defensive issues prior to the fullback being...

Where did we go wrong? Wallaby Recovery thread.

I can see one problem wrong with australian rugby in that one sentence.

Where did we go wrong? Wallaby Recovery thread.

Fine, I saw the plural and presumed it meant me as well. :) Anyway, back to my original point: there is not any real reason to talk about the backs until the forwards are sorted. Waving arms and appealing the ref is shit and doesn't work.

Where did we go wrong? Wallaby Recovery thread.

Relax a bit, please - my first post was serious and in fact included a condensed version of what you said, particularly about the forwards. The responses I got were, quite frankly, hilarious to me given how polar opposite they were in content. Just keeping it a bit lighthearted, and not...

Where did we go wrong? Wallaby Recovery thread.

Haha, that was brilliant!!! With one sentence I got two people to not only disagree with me but also disagree with each other. Go me! :D

QC (Quade Cooper) needs to either be in the run on team or out of the 23 all together. He is at his best when he can ease into a game, not when he feels he needs to come in and do miracles. I think To'omua played OK for a first game, but needed to run straight a bit more and pass a little closer to the...

Aus vs NZ - 1st Test Sydney 17Aug2013

Not many positives fir the wallabies out of tonight's performance. I don't think NZ actually played that well either, which makes it all the more troubling for the Wobblies. QC (Quade Cooper) is very slow, he really needs to do the sprint training properly.

    Reds 2014

Or Lance got paid more to go to the Tahs. I'm just speculating, given I have no idea what he is getting paid or what benefits he is getting to go there.

    Reds 2014

Speculating is fine. Without the facts I am not going to make a guess as to what happens - and, to be honest, given what reportedly went on last year - I wouldn't be too sure of any statements of who gets what. To do so is wrong.

    Reds 2014

It was tongue in cheek. Not sure how you are so sure what the Reds have paid their players tbh, but I bow to your professed knowledge of the situation.

A very good point, but the Reds have to operate under a salary cap, unfortunately. :P

2013 Super Rugby Final - CHIEFS v BRUMBIES

I really enjoyed that game, well done both teams. Great stuff Chiefs :D

    The End of Super Rugby

But it is the international flavour that gives it the exposure. Without that it does not grow (it shrinks). Why else do you think the South Pacific Championship (the fore runner of super rugby) was created? It was specifically because of the growth of Rugby League into a national game. We...

    The End of Super Rugby

Each SA super rugby franchise plays each other in a home and away as well as two byes. Why not fill the byes with matches against the Lions (one home and one away)? Matches between two SA super rugby teams gain points also toward the Currie Cup at the same time as going towards the Super Rugby...

    The End of Super Rugby

This paragraph seems to sum up the very nub of the matter from what I am gathering: it is essentially a desire to have what once was, when the reality has hit that it is probably now gone and all the other reasons given are just trying to justify that premise. I just think this is a natural...

    The End of Super Rugby

Thanks for the reply. Whilst we may well stay even with each other here in Australia, due to us no longer playing the best from NZ and SA we would start to lag behind (and become worse and worse). NZ and SA will also suffer since test revenue will start to drop once Australia become less...

    The End of Super Rugby

You think that super rugby has had no benefit whatsoever for South African rugby? Playing the best from Australia and New Zealand consistently throughout season after season has had no effect at all and that leaving that system would have no detrimental effects other than monetary? Is the...

    The End of Super Rugby

The issue of players leaving for Europe or Japan is not unique to SA or NZ though. Unless SA super rugby franchises are going to be able to afford millions of euros per season for their players, adding a 6th team isn't going to do diddly.
