Yes, I get what you are saying, I’m just pointing out that if they stayed where they were they could have / would have stopped a try, in the wallabies case. An isolated incident no doubt, but in the ABs case if Cane and 23 had stayed where they were Japan would not have scored, they probably...

I think that is a by-product of trying to over structure things. We saw a similar situation in the earlier game when Sam Cane went to swap with his inside man and the Jap guy saw the opening and went over the chalk. “Trust your instinct” and “play what’s in front of you” come to mind.

Given the alternatives, I think we can. Only for this RWC cycle though. I notice you mention QC (Quade Cooper) in your injury list….that is the obvious caveat, and the reason he is here to begin with.

I should point out out that I actually like your post match critique, sans the omission of mentions of sub par Brumbies players,

Yes, the adjudication is different when the culprit is a home nation. That’s his point. I gave up crying about crooked line out throws long ago.

Well that was a nail biter. I didn’t mind the interpretation of the McDermott clean out if that’s how it was interpreted all the time. But it’s not and any other day of the week, someone in a gold jersey, even Retallick this time around, twice on Sundays, that’s a red. Foley didn’t have a...

    Wallabies 2023

Maybe officially but I find it hard to believe that professional rugby players have been doing nothing for 3 weeks. It’s a tough blow but the silver lining is we have Ned in camp. EDIT: read above. Who is the replacement, I assume it will be Red Swain?

    Waratahs 2023

It’s definitely an interesting choice for marketing - 2 injured players and a kiwi

    Waratahs 2023

oh yeah for sure, I’m not criticizing Pete, I just think Crichton would be fine at it, along with those other roles. He isn’t small for a provincial back rower, he’s 6’3 and around 110kg. That said, I’d agree with others here that at that stage of his career center will probably be his thing...

    Waratahs 2023

I would look at it as there isn’t much downside in it. He is going to play rugby, it’s just a matter of whether it’s in Australia or not. Head tells me if it’s not in Aus it will be wherever Jack Maddocks is at the time. Re the comparisons with Burgess, I get your point but agree with qwerty...

    Waratahs 2023

I think I read he is retiring after rwc2023 and in any case he is 31. Happy to stand corrected.

    Waratahs 2023

That’s a pretty lame comeback. I’m pretty sure he’d be fine in a line out.

    Waratahs 2023

Like I said, perfect replacement for Samu at the Brumbies. What you wrote there pretty much sums Pete up.

    Waratahs 2023

FP, I couldnt work out how to copy your post above in as its on a different page - but.... I realise this is the Waratahs thread, and as much as I hate to say it, he’d probably be a perfect fit for the Brumbies post Samu. And he’s from Young so he is a geographical fit too. That, or maybe...

    Waratahs 2023

He is, the contract extension sounds pretty loose to me though. Even if he runs that out he will still only be 28 at the end of it. I’ll emphasise that from the conversation I had his motivation is not necessarily to play for the Wallabies, it’s to play pro rugby. It’s not like he’s a Willie...

    Waratahs 2023

What are peoples thoughts on Angus Crichton? We know he is a free agent and I have it on good authority that a stint in rugby union is definitely on his bucket list.....not necessarily in Australia, but the Tahs, or any other franchise, would be mad not to have a crack wouldn’t they? For...

Wallabies v Scotland, Murrayfield, Sun 30th Oct, 3.30am AEDT

I don’t have any issues with this at all. He had a great game that day and afterwards was ignored by that coach and the next one. I don’t see it as mismanagement at all, he wasn’t good enough to be selected, took the money to play overseas and is now eligible to play for another country. We...
