Canes v Reds at the Cake Tin - 2011R11

Re: ref's performance tonight - we need to remember that it comes in swings and roundabouts that some weeks the calls go your way and the next they don't. Last week it was the 'tahs fans jumping up and down over refereeing decisions and this week it is us. The referee didn't lose the game...

    Rugby - not set pieces

I remember him playing the odd game at 10 for the Sharks. I think I saw on one of the forums that he was a flyhalf as a junior and many Saffer fans were calling on him to be put there permanently.

    Central Coast Rugby Union 2011

A mate put me onto it a month or so ago and I find it interesting, especially the portrayal of Calamity Jane. Interesting on the podcast that Matt Hodgson said he may come back to finish his career with Avoca as his mate is currently coaching the thirsties. Is his brother still coaching colts?

    Shute Shield 2011

Gordon held off a hard finishing Parramatta to win 30-24. The Highlanders were in control for most of the match after a lucky try in the first five minutes (the bloke went into touch before scoring - the touchie and video ref need new glasses). The fullback Berryman (apparently he was in the...

    Central Coast Rugby Union 2011

Doesn't look like any games will go ahead this weekend as it has barely stopped raining for 2 weeks straight.

    Central Coast Rugby Union 2011

Typical ARU / NSWRU "development" attitudes. While they sit in their ivory towers in Sydney the grassroots of the game whither on the vine. People wonder why I refuse to support the Waratahs? They should just rename them (Eastern) Sydney now and get it over and done with as they don't represent...

    Shute Shield 2011

I can't remember. It would probably be on the NSWRU website somewhere.

    Reds 2011

I said it in my earlier post but to repeat they are playing the Hurricanes who are coming back from their SA tour. One of only two opportunities where they could consider resting key players (the other being the return Rebels game) and have a realistic chance of victory.

    Reds 2011

Totally agree with the rotation idea and this week is a perfect opportunity to rest some key players. 'Canes coming back from SA, down on form and all that. Put Cooper on the bench, rest Genia entirely Mike Harris to 10, Tapuai to 12 (leave Ant at 13) and give the next best 9 a run. The forwards...

Waratahs in talks with James Haskell, Mike Phillips and Dwayne Peel

Bartman, are you the same bartman from tsf? If so, welcome aboard it will be good to get some fresh Kiwi input.

The Ongoing Tragedy of the Waratahs

1 I mentioned on one of the Brumbies coaching threads a month or so ago that the Brumbies needed to have a structural audit of their organisation by external sources. The 'tahs have changed their off-field organisational structure this year (not sure if they have appointed 2 CEOs yet?) but...

The Ongoing Tragedy of the Waratahs

This has been a problem for the 'tahs since the early days of Super rugby. Back then there appeared to be a mentality amongst NSW players that if they outplayed their Australian opposite in a head-to-head tussle then they were more likely to be selected for the Wallabies.

    Reds vs Waratahs, 2011R10

Watch the first two games last night - a tale of two derbies on opposite sides of the ditch with a mate who is more a league fan than a union fan. The first game between the Highlanders and the Crusaders had him in awe with its intensity (reminded me of Bob Dwyer's article a couple of weeks ago...

    Shute Shield 2011

I watched the TV game where Easts were able to hold off Randwick for the win. I was hoping for an Easts win (lesser of two evils and all that) and was screaming at the TV when the referee alloweda penalty advantage for Randwick to go for 10+ phases in the last minute before Easts pilfered and he...

How does the surf over in Western Australia compare to his hometown break of Avoca? Has he considered finishing his playing days back on the Central Coast?

Waratahs in talks with James Haskell, Mike Phillips and Dwayne Peel

back on topic.... If the 'tahs are in talks with these three players is it safe to assume that they have come to a decision of some sort as to who will be the coach next year? Surely they wouldn't be chasing signatures without knowing who will be head coach (although it is the Waratahs).
