    Waratahs 2011 post mortem

Injuries made things difficult THIS season. So did not being able to catch and pass accurately on the run. But the Waratahs are carrying a big monkey on their backs. They have NEVER won a Super Rugby title, while the Reds won a couple in the early years and the Brumbies won a couple of Super12s...

Which team will you support (Only Tah supporters)

I'm a huge Tah fan, seriously. As I've said before, the Tahs winning SupeRugby would mean more to me than a RWC. However, I really lost it with the Tahs this season. It looked like the game plan was to get Mitchell or Beale to score a miracle try. Beyond that, and some good scrummaging, I...

Which team will you support (Only Tah supporters)

VRF - the Reds are playing terrific up-tempo rugby. But the only side playing perfect XV-man rugby is the Crusaders. The only thing that can beat them is travel.

Geez, wouldn't mind a bit more forwards grunt in these things. Rugby's not all swan dives.

Which team will you support (Only Tah supporters)

I reckon Reds fans might not be so generous if it was the other way around. I've met plenty of Queenslanders who hate everything to do with NSW and would support an overseas team on that basis. Fair enough - I don't have a problem with that. One point I'd like to add is that a QLDer wanting to...

    Lack of Crowds in NZ

I remember thinking at the time that they won the RWC hosting, that this would be NZ's last chance to host it by themselves. The tournament would just get to big for their population and economy. Crowds have been down all year - the conference system not working for NZers?

Rugby-Penalty shootouts introduced for tied Super finals

Could be a Steve Waugh moment. What could be better than beating South Africa / New Zealand / England to win the World Cup? Tieing with them and winning on penalty shootout!

    Phil Waugh retires

My take is the same as everyone else's - he got arse raped. He was a totally up-and-coming 7, with terrific energy, and somehow the Tahs didn't want him. I would have replaced Waugh with Beau a couple of years ago. It might have allowed a wider game plan, for a start. Did Waugh have anything to...

    Phil Waugh retires

I'd be prepared to allow the thread to drift a little if you wanted to contribute something useful here. The way Beau was treated certainly affects my impression of Waugh.

Scrum Penalty Analysis by Gary Gold

Is it Pro Legate? Either way, there's always a lot of information on this site: http://www.sareferees.co.za

    Sitaleki Timani

That's the weird thing topo - Timani's hands were terrible the last couple of years. What happened? And the rest of his game has transformed as well. At the Brumbies, all he was good for was run runs at the ball where he would drop it cold. All credit - the biggest improver of 2011, no doubt.

Somebody go on Gwlad and find out the gossip.

    Berrick Barnes takes a break

Thanks, I'd love to give it to Paris.

    Berrick Barnes takes a break

So, if I write to B. Barnes c/o Waratahs, that's the best way to contact him?

    Berrick Barnes takes a break

Guys - I'm starting to think I've got a guy who might be able to help Berrick. Does someone know the best way to contact him? Stick it here or PM me. Cheers.

    Why is Tom Carter unpickable?

G'day Bruce, you've opened a few eyes with those stats. I agree with you that Chariots is a very decent SupeRugby player. I also think he can play 13 just fine. I've always thought that the centres were a "combination" type of problem, like loose forwards. It all depends on who is inside or...

    Western Force vs Reds, 2011R17

Big Kev is coming back to form just at the right time. I wouldn't put him in the top 3 or 4 locks in the world though. Sharpey I would.

    Western Force vs Reds, 2011R17

He should definitely stay out of Wallaby lineouts. From tonights' games, we can say that our 2, 7, 10, and 15 are world cl ... are the equal of anyone in the world. Probably our 12 as well, except he plays on the wing.

    Losing Culture at the Force

It's been happening since their first season. The Highlanders are another team with a lot of losses by 1 or 2 points. I agree that they could turn things around fast if they won the close games. How to do it, though? Maybe get Phil Waugh to captain?
