    Shute Shield 2017

Adams and Miller should both do well. Smokie - Paula Balakana (Gordon) - very difficult for a winger to win such an award but he was outstanding all year - 22 tries for the year.

Not to my understanding. He gets 4 points last year and one point deduction for last year so 3 points. Oz schoolboys from 2015 still attract 5 points (6-1). That is a fatal flaw in the system that a NSW schoolboy go from a 4 point player in 2016 to a 1 point player in 2017. It was argued that...

The 20 points have been deducted from Randwick 3rd grade Colts on the NSW rugby website - drops them from second to third. There is no points for 3rd grade colts so it must be for using AUS schoolboy or AUS Barbarian players in Colts 3.

eastwood over the cap v norths over the weekend as well. not sure SRU will do anything, which makes the cap a farce I guess. the baz, Yesterday at 12:39 PM Report #670 All the clubs were asked to send send in a spreadsheet with the points against each player which I imagine...

I believe that this weekends round is "Back to Gordon" day for colts at Chatswood against Uni. Either it is ironic or someone organizing at Gordon has a sense of humour! Close but no cigar - it is Ladies Day at Chatswood this Saturday

Fully agree you cannot blame any of the boys. Uni are the most professional club and they demand a higher level of compulsory commitment to their program. At other clubs you can still train just as hard but you need a higher level of self motivation - and that does not suit many players...

My memory is fading - Guy Porter missed Aus schoolboys in 2014 and I don't think there was an A team that year so he was a 4 pointer in 2015 and a 1 pointer in 2016 and 2017. He is an out and out first grader now as is Swinton and you wonder why they are playing 1st grade Colts.

Certainly Travers, King, Porter and Clements were Uni players in 2015 or 2016 so they are 1 pointers. Basson was not and should be a 2 pointer. Not sure about Rotuisolia. Guy Porter was an Aus schoolboy in 2014 and played for Uni Colts in 2015 but I think was injured in 2016. He was a 6...

I think you will find Uni are very close to the maximum points in Colts1 and Colts 2 and can't put many replacements on or they will exceed 40 and 35 points respectively. They probably can only use 1 point players as replacements.

ILTW I think you are taking a very narrow view of the reasons for doing Pathways. To play in the GPS comp for another year would play a small part in the decision making for many. Other reasons may include: - To make school rep teams competing with people your own age (the big one IMO). -...

Which clubs are the Class of 2016 going to?

Will Terry and Tom Osborne to Uni. Tom Silk to Gordon

I think one of the major differences is you may have to play 24 weeks straight - 3 trials, 18 comp games and 3 finals with no weeks off - although I hear there may be 1 week off this year. School boys rarely play more than 6 weeks before school holidays break it up. IMO the top teams in Colts...

    CAS Rugby 2017

Barker IMO is the school that is much worse off than under the current structure. Knox want to step up to match up against the best rugby schools. Barker would play Joeys, View, Kings and Auggies or similar rather than Trinity, Waves, Aloys and Trinity - that is much, much tougher across all...

    CAS Rugby 2017

I gather the proposal was for 3 groups of 6 schools something like the following and the match ups make a lot of sense based on numbers and quality: Group 1 (North): Joeys, Knox, Barker, View, Kings, Auggies ??Shore?? Group 2 (South/East): Scots, Newington, Waverley, Shore?? plus a few Group...

I think you will find Margan was replaced with 10 to go and then his replacement was bought off and replaced with the massive guy during extra time - but the damage had been done.

    Sydney Colts - 2016

I thoughts Norths were outstanding at the breakdown for the first 60-70 minutes and disrupted and slowed down so much Uni ball. The Uni scrum was dominant all day and the decision to replace James Margan with 10 minutes to go will haunt the Norths management - the scrum was decimated in the...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2016

Agree that Alec Sheldon looked the most dangerous player on the pitch until his terribly unfortunate injury. He is still very young and will be back. GPS took control in the last 15 minutes due to CAS tiring terribly. That will happen when you train 5 or 6 times a week against opposition who...

Randwick were trying to get a 4 try bonus point for the loss in round 2 - they were requested to provide video evidence of how they got to 23 by Mat Kellanan or he would amend the score - this all took weeks as Randwick refused to change the score. They didn't provide evidence so he amended...
