Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

I was bitterly unhappy when we let him go as well.

He definitely would. He's ahead of Rathbone on that showing and about on a level with Tomane. In saying that, I wasn't serious about him for the Wallabies just yet. EOYT for sure. Paddy Ryan put his hand up in a big, big, way. Dennis is going to have to do something, and do it soon, if he...

Waratahs vs Cheetahs Super Rugby-R5 2013

Nick Phipps has to be looking pretty good right now.

    Betham for the Wallabies.

No he doesn't. I agree with you that Lilo should be involved in some capacity, but his long pass simply isn't as good as Cooper's. Like it or not, Cooper has the best long pass in world rugby, and, with Cruden, the best overall passing game. The Lions are a different issue to the All Blacks...

    Rebels 2013

Please no. I don't want Johnson anywhere near the Rebels.

    Rebels 2013

Will be interesting to see how the Rebels manage things here on out. Do the start investing more heavily in Stirzaker, or do they keep rolling like they have. Giving him 10-20 minutes once every couple of games.

Can't wait to see Betham. He was enormous in the ITM Cup - big, fast and could actually score tries. Thought he might have been an outside shot at the Wallabies squad. Great to see him get his shot.

Because, what, they use Instagram? I shudder to think what you would have thought of the antics the players got up to in the 70s, 80s, 90s... actually pretty much ever. Cooper is getting back into form. JOC (James O'Connor) has been carrying the Rebels. Digby is playing the best he has for a good long while...

Law question - TPN's tackling technique

Like I said in the OP, I wasn't meaning to have a go at TPN directly - it was just him that happened to grab my attention at the time. I was quite shocked by that Fainga'a tackle at the ground, he belted Neville who was fairly shifting - sent him absolutely flying. If you look at the footage of...

    Rebels 2013

Anyone think Jordy Reid is going to get a starting gig sooner rather than later? Has really put himself around the park in the few minutes he's got. Given Hill seems pretty reluctant to make changes, I think we'll see exactly the same team for the Sharks and then it might get mixed up a...

Law question - TPN's tackling technique

It's a pretty grubby thing to suggest. It's hardly Victor Matfield swinging a titanium arm-guard at someones head. I genuinely don't think there's an intent to injure, but I worry for the safety of TPN and the player being tackled every time it happens.

Law question - TPN's tackling technique

Don't believe that at all. I think it's just the quickest and most brutally effective way to chop a player down while landing them in a position that makes ball retention difficult. Still, I think when it turns into what Fainga'a is doing above - a shoulder charge at the general knee area - then...

    Rebels 2013

I'd probably swap Beale and Roberts, but that would be the best backline the Rebels have ever put out by a huge distance. Coaches seem to love Phipps so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Tuilagi isn't so good that we need to worry about selecting players to stop him. You could make an argument for Cummins, I can't remember the last time he played 13 though - his hands are a pretty big question mark as well. Fotu Auelua as a smoky? Could be devastating off the bench.

Law question - TPN's tackling technique

Without wanting to get the Queensland boys circling the wagons, surely this is a shoulder charge by Saia. Makes absolutely no effort to wrap his arms, just runs his shoulder into Neville at around knee-height.

Who else is there? tigerland12 I've been talking up Jones for ages but he's going to have to sort out his hands before he plays for the Wallabies. He does so many good things, but he's guaranteed to lose the ball in contact at least twice a game.

    Rebels v Reds RD 4 2013

Scott Sio is an absolute beast in fairness, and Stirzaker looks like he weighs about 40kg wringing wet. Wasn't quite as bad as Dagg getting absolutely molested by Savea the other day, mind. Stirzaker's upsides are far greater than anything you lose with some shaky defence. And it's worth...

Anyone who doesn't have JOC (James O'Connor) in their starting XV needs their head checked. We discovered the other night that he isn't really a ten. Doesn't preclude him from playing 12, 14 or 15. At the moment, this is a what I'd like to see/what we might actually see combo. Robinson Moore Palmer Douglas...

    Rebels v Reds RD 4 2013

He has the best pass in Australia outside of Cooper. People can keep making the argument that he's only playing 20 minutes, but I don't know what more he needs to do to get a start. His defence isn't quite as good as Phipps' but outside of that every single facet of his game looks better. Helps...
