    Australian Rugby / RA

There could be an argument made for the likes of ISA in particular should be looked at if they were looking to find a structure that's more open to expanding their participation base. Considering they run two divisions involving 16+ schools. It would also probably be the association to benefit...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The games will be on 9Gem which is easily accessible as yes, it's just another FTA channel.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There would be room for Japanese involvement to grow from 4 to 6. I'm basing it off the comments I've read regarding their likely involvement number to start. Which were just their top 4 teams. It's actually not a matter of looking them as the lesser league. Primarily because considering the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And in the case of the English game they are struggling under the weight of having to carry those large squads to cover the 30+ games they play a season. The French probably have similar issues but they seem to be less open about them as most of the teams costs are covered by wealthy individuals...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

And I'm not suggesting it has to be a hard maximum of just 16 games. I'm suggesting that we have a 16 games regular season plus finals followed by or run in tandem with a Cup competition with the Japanese league. This would provide an extra 2-4 games per team. So that's a 18-20 games...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

As Kiap suggests. Rugby is a contact/collision sport. The physical toll on the bodies of players is significantly different than that of any of the leagues you've mentioned. I'm not saying that 16 weeks is the absolute maximum. In fact in my most ideal season would be a 19 weeks (16 ronds plus...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Healthier players generally leads to higher quality contests. Higher quality contests draws in more eyes. Certainly seems to work in other sports which have massively profitable leagues.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Some interesting comments regarding the future of MLR by Ben Foden. In particularly that of season length and it's ability to potentially play a huge part of MLR ever reaches the point where they can begin to offer similar contract to that in Europe. That the 5 month window would be very, very...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

I guess the structure will depend on what the world looks like in 2022. Will it be more of a return to normalcy or will Covid still be the disruptor it currently remains? I actually don't mind the idea of conferences. With Fiji in ours and Moana in NZ's playing home and away with crossover games...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

No. Doubt we'll see conferences. At least officially. I'm hoping for them to settle on the same season structure as the new Japanese league that will also have 12 teams playing over 16 rounds. Which would open up opportunities for a Cup competition in the schedule.

Same could be said for both the WBBL and AFLW. The loss of the FTA outlet is a bit of a concern. As we can attest.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

There's been an article out of Fiji indicating that the Drua alongside Moana Pasifika will be joining a 12 team Pacific based Super Rugby competition alongside the five franchises from both Aus and NZ from 2022. I cannot post the link at present as the site (PlanetRugby) won't load. But it's very...

Soccer been the dominant participation sport of the four footballing codes for a very long time. Still hasn't helped the A-League.

Might be other opportunities connected to hosting that may pop up. Such as tour games etc.

    Rebels 2021

We do. We also get satisfaction that without our exports 3/5 of our teams wouldn't likely exist.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Jesus Christ. So far across a few platforms I've seen. It's too obscure. It's not. There's not enough FTA games. We FINALLY have FTA games. It's too expensive having to bundle it with Stan proper. It's not. Now we have it's not expensive enough? The $55 is a PPV event. There's a big difference...

As long as they pay the appropriate licencing is shouldn't be illegal.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

And broadcast what exactly? Seriously. I'd hope more marketing for sure but there's little point in launching the platform with not content available in which to broadcast. They could conceivably wait until the week of to launch as long as they market that launch leading in.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

You mean the series played in England? If it were a series hosted here I can guarantee it would be on the primary channel. Of any network hosting it. As for the Rebels/Brums game being on in Sydney/Brisbane. I don't actually. Nor do I expect the Tahs games to be on 9 Perth. As long as it on 9...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

The new Japanese pro league will officially launch in 2022 and will feature room built in for cross border games. Can see some kind of Asia-Pacific Cup competition in the works.
