    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

I think its a great system that should be the rule for most clubs. I know GPS used to have that policy. I actually think it contributed to Will Genia leaving the club as when he finished in his debut Super Rugby season he wasn't going to be starting for Prems because the halfback Tom Sully (who...

Not sure how accurate this is but have heard rumours that GPS enforcer Mogi Wei (who hasn't played with the side for 3 weeks) won't be returning to Premier Rugby or Australia anytime soon. Apparently he went home to PNG for a quick family catch up and when trying to re-enter Australia was told...

    How long will Quade get?

Im sorry if this has been addressed earlier but i'm confused as to how an appeal can cause the ban to increase? If Quade has been given the one week suspension doesn't that mean the offence was only worthy of the week? Why would it then increase to say 3 weeks instead. From my understanding an...

Tigerland I agree lots of teams are suffering from injuries, Easts especially by the looks of it. My point when addressing GPS current woes though was not so much the fact they have lost have couple of players but more that the ADDITION of the rep players (Rasolea, Pama Fou and Joey Lala) may...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Thanks Cat much appreciated. As a club I don't think any grade has fielded the same team two weeks in a row so there is always chopping and changing going on through injury and other factors (as is the case with other clubs im sure). Its just the nature of the game and most teams at GPS...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

Tigerland - GPS currently have three of their biggest forward assests missing through injury and rep duties, these being backrowers Mogi Wei and Jay Havelu and prop Ruan Smith who was picked up by the Force a few weeks ago. Losing those three and having Samo back with the Reds has taken some...

Filth, i'm not quite sure if the problem is other clubs approaching players for recruitment but rather players wishing to leave Wests. When I was out at GPS v Wests a few weeks back I was approached by several Wests colts players asking to be introduced to a coach/official from GPS so they could...

Props are so hard to come by these days once a few get injured it makes things very hard. ECA do you know why for the games against GPS, Easts chose to contest in 4ths and not the higher grades? They even had props on the bench. Has this been the case in the 3 weeks you are talking about? I...

Norths actually contested scrums in every game against GPS on the weekend. They looked pretty handy as well with a good contest at the set piece. Watching down at Yoku Rd this year the only club who hasn't been able to field contested scrums in every grade so far has been Easts who managed to...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2012

GPS beat Norths 30-3 down at Yoku Rd. Was a pretty average first half of rugby with the score 3-0 to GPS. Right winger Pama Fou got through a mountain of work and had some really nice runs, although his final passes a few times bombed certain tries. GPS forward pack was a bit understrength with...

GPS seem to be really missing an impact from Samo in the last few weeks. After watching a few games in which he played I thought his workrate was down a bit and he seemed a little lazy but maybe that was just me expecting more from a current/former Red and Wallaby. On paper GPS backline was the...

    Reds 2013

There are salary cap setups in other leagues (the NBA comes to mind) where teams can bend the rules a little bit and go over the caps if it is for player retention rather than recruitment. I believe there are also some exemptions made if a player has been with a franchise for at least x amount...

Any know if Shipperly will be running out for Brothers on Saturday?

Reds v Hurricanes: June 15: Sunshine Coast

Latest twitter updates indicate he is with the Wallabies in Melbourne (Diggers photos). I guess they're keeping him close to the squad as injury backup.

The crocodile roll ruck clear out!

I don't think this technique will become the mainstream way to get rid of would be attackers at the breakdown. As mentioned earlier, when using this style the players are actually moved further away from the ball, rather than falling on top of it and being in a position to seal it off. If you're...

I'm interested to see how Scott Malolua goes if he gets on. AUS schoolboys last year and has been playing Prem Grade and Prem Colts down at GPS this year, very handy halfback. This may be the last time Radike gets to chuck on that Reds jersey, shame I can't make it to the game.

    Rebels 2013

Not sure about that one. I have heard Lei Tomiki should be coming back as well though, for the second time. I don't think he'd be a major asset to the Rebels or any AUS franchise, he got one start for the Reds for a few years ago after it was said he would be a vital part of the team.

    Rebels 2013

Its happening. I mentioned it earlier in this thread that some players were coming back from France and he is one of them. He will be a handy player for them and give some depth in the outside backs. He is also a good kicker.

    Rebels 2013

I believe the Fiji qualified thing is a bit of a mess up and he is still eligible for Aus. I remember back when he first went over to France and he was offered a spot on the bench for the Fijian national side in a test against Australia, however, respectfully declined as he wishes to play for...

If you could change the laws of rugby, what would you change?

I just have one problem with people suggesting that props jerseys should be looser. I assume we are looking at making these changes for every level of the game (internationals, super rugby, club rugby - premier grade, lower grades etc). For anyone who has played/watched lower grades rugby the...
