Super Rugby Rd 2: Rebels v Hurricanes

Really don’t understand how Talakai has been promoted to first choice TH. He’s a solid player but nothing more, historically he’s been less of an impact on teams than Fa’amasuili or Eloff have. Baffling to keep him first choice. Hopefully Eloff back soon to take his spot.

    Wallabies 2023

Sivo missed large portions of the last 18months with a ruptured acl. I think it’s just bad luck, when you’re that big and that explosive your body straddles a fine line between elite performance and breaking down. We also have the disadvantage in Aus of playing large portions of a season and...

    Wallabies 2023

Yep, it’s often presumed that because he’s Fijian he had a rugby background (I’m sure there was some exposure) but actually came through the non traditional Fijian rugby league pathway instead of Union. Many don’t remember how Koroibete was after 2 years (so many people saying waste of money...

    Rebels 2023

Would like to know why Ili isn’t at 13 and Hodge 12. Both from my memory have played a lot more in these positions than the reverse

Australian Super Rugby Team of the Week 2023

Hardwick was one of the performers of the week. I’d say people aren’t picking him because they either don’t want to select a non-Aus qualified player or simply didn’t watch the rebels v Force game.

    Rebels 2023

I thought the attack was pretty good minus the last couple of minutes when it went sideways. We basically came away with points every time we went near their posts. The issue was defense, centres were consistently giving up gain line in the hit, I don’t overly care about missed tackles because...

    Super Rugby 2023 Rd 1 - Reds v Hurricanes

Reds props were always going to be cannon fodder. There is guys in this match that wouldn’t even make the wider squad of any of the other teams. Hookers are poor as well. Tupou has single handedly held that scrum up for years, hence why he’s consistently played 80mins. Reds backline and backrow...

    Rebels 2023

Still think all teams should be forced to release on Wednesday even if they are playing on Sunday. If NRL and AFL teams can do it, surely Super Rugby teams all can as well

    Rebels 2023

Be nice to see Pone go to QLD. Their prop stocks are a massive issue without Tupou.
  11. Wallaby Man

    Rebels 2023

I didn’t know the St Kevs link, just always hear Sydney, home, SS, etc. like it’s his entire journey.

    Rebels 2023

    He’s born and raised NSW

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Talataina rated as well. Think he might get some Super Rugby game time this year
  14. Wallaby Man

    Rebels 2023

Prob with that, there is a chance full strength he doesn’t make the 23. Eloff and Fa’amasuili in same spot and to my eye better currently and potentially.

    Rebels 2023

This list contains 2 Victorians (Hosea and Kailea). One who was targeted with a scholarship to finish his last couple of years at school and then immediately moved back to Vic. Another that only moved to QLD at the start of Covid to get game time because the Vic season was abandoned. Pretty...

    Rebels 2023

This is pretty close to my list. I’d have Ripley at 13 or the wing.

    Waratahs 2023

The East Germans looking in great shape
  18. Wallaby Man

    Rebels 2023

I think the R1 team will look drastically different in the front 5. Gibbon will come in, Mafi will start, Cabous will be TH. Have even paired for scrummaging combo in this match. Cardall wouldn’t surprise me to start as well for some experience. In the backs Tuttle surely keeps 9.
  19. Wallaby Man

    Rebels 2023

Read in an article recently he’s out to start the season. Related to injury from last year. Apparently required surgery on foot

    Rebels 2023

Think we might see Hodge start the season at 15, but move to 12 once Kellaway returns. Perhaps as mentioned Joost at 15 if they want to start Hodge at 12 from the get go, but teams tend to prefer their better players at 15 these days. Hodgey a good defender, so at 12 not the worst option. Can...
