Pumas vs Wallabies, 25th July 2015, Mendoza

Cooper clearly isn't a 12 and the cameo there didn't do much good for him. Cheika should have sent Beale in. At least he has a combination with Foley. Argies need to stop diving like soccer players. Skelton needs to be taught the difference between being hard and being a twat. But overall...

Springboks v All Blacks, Ellis Park 25/7/2015

What are the thoughts? Will Hanson run out his best possible team? You'd have to think so.

Keeping the powder dry for us, their bunny team.

The props key role is still scrummaging. A bit of skill in the loose is the bonus. NZ have changed the game with loose forwards. Picking guys like Read who are as valuable in the loose in attack has made them World No1 for 10 years (as of today). We need more from our loose forwards in attack...

By that metric, is Australia a rugby nation?

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

While Skelton didn't have a great game, it's a bit early to chuck him on the scrap heap. He needs to come off the bench for the next few games and find his way to make an impact. I'd be disappointed if he disappeared from the 23.

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

My only concern with Pocock at 8 is his reach. If we're back peddling at scrum time we need an 8 with a decent reach to get in and drag the ball out. Which makes me wonder if Fardy has ever played 8?

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

    6. Pocock 7. Hooper 8. McCalman It just has to be. Pocock to play open on defence and Hooper on attack. McCalman would compliment those two beautifully and is a genuine line out option, with Skelton to the bench and another jumping lock starting.

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

His manager confirmed earlier in the week he was going to honour at least the first year of his Scottish contract, no matter if selected for the Wallabies or not. I'd suggest he just moved in to Cheiks "fuck off then" squad of 1.

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

If I had a criticism, it would be he tended to referee one team more heavily in each half. It all worked out but the Boks probably got the rub of the green in the first half and the Wallabies in the second.

Probably not a bad test to start the reserve props. It will be the hardest test scrummaging wise and we can see where they're really at. Maybe even the whole reserve front row and let Hooper captain. 1. Sio 2. TPN 3. Holmes 4. Horwill 5. Simmons 6. Hooper 7. Pocock 8. McCalman 9. Phipps 10...

I disagree. I think we would have benefited from TPN in the final 10 and Hooper would be a fine captain.

Best thing was Genia and Horwill getting to leave Suncorp for the last time as winners.

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

If the Boks maintain their discipline we can't beat them. We need the free ride up field from penalty kicks to get close enough to the line for our backs to make the difference. If we have to rely on the forwards to make the metres we're shot. Commiseration to the Boks, thought they were the...

Skelton setting up lovely off loads but when he turns after contact there's no one there to pass to.

All Blacks v Argentina, 17th July, 2015, AMI stadium, Christchurch

The over riding thought I had from the game was..... We're getting the band back together. Just that passage of play in the 60th minute where they pummelled the Argies behind their gain line and then GOAT came through to disrupt and the ABs stole the ball looked like the ABs in their prime. I...

All Blacks v Argentina, 17th July, 2015, AMI stadium, Christchurch

Maybe the answer to maul defence is if defensively you can splinter off one of the attacking players in front of the ball without collapsing it, it becomes a free for all. No offside, can pull it down. Force the players in front of the ball to remain bound together for the maul to be legal. Too...
