    Wallabies 2023

It's been suggested, on this very thread I think, that Eddie might be looking to fight fire with fire by selecting his biggest and most aggressive side against the Saffas. I would assume, with both Bell and Tupou on the plane, they will both be in the selection mix. If that is the case I hope...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

I was critical of his errors in the Fiji game, but he put in a solid performance against the Irish in a side quite badly beaten. In this game, I reckon Wilson showed he has a long way to go to be a real threat at No 9, especially with very slow ball delivery to his backline. I hope he can show...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

I didn't think our backs suffered in comparison with the Irish backline, either in size or talent. Some of the JWs backline moves caused havoc in the Irish defence.

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

I agree, our locks were substantially smaller than their Irish counterparts and maybe contributed to our poor scrum performance in the second half, but in the first half the JWs were indisputably on top at scrum time with the same locks in the second row. And, yes, Barrett's side still stood up...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Barrett is an exceptional prospect at LHP, certainly, but I reckon last night showed just how important de Lutis is to the set piece. With him on the ground the Junior Wallabies were dominating the scrum, but after he left the scrum was on skates going backward. Is the replacement THP...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Young Wallabies having to do a mountain of defence because they can't win a turnover at the ruck, while Ireland have turned the ball over at least 6 or 7 times. Do any of our teams at any level train to win ruck ball or is it the mentality that our No 7 is a pilferer and it's all up to him...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Yep, and that could do heaps for Mason's confidence in other aspects of his game.

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Mason Gordon's game against Fiji was error prone and indecisive. Hopefully he got all of that out of his system in that game and performs to the standard set by the rest of the side against Ireland.

Springboks v Wallabies, Loftus Versfeld, Sun 9th Jul 1.05am AEST

I agree with KOB - Frost in for Arnold until we see how Richie goes off the bench, and Nawaqanitawase for Vunivalu is my preference but Eddie could well go with Vuni. Otherwise. Uelese is just too fragile to play off the bench imo. Twice during the year he and Mafi left the Rebels without a...

    Wallabies 2023

Slim, it looks to me that Slipper and Gibbon are the sole two LHPs scheduled to go to SA. As Highlander35 says, I am concerned about what happens if one of those goes down with injury/illness pre-game. I don't particularly like H35's suggestion that a THP would have to change sides, especially...

    Wallabies 2023

It has been reported on this thread that EJ (Eddie Jones) has said that Kerevi is the only Rehab selection who will be fit for SA. That seems to mean that Bell won't be playing (he also is a Rehab selection). It looks to me that we are one LHP short in the squad to go to SA.

    Wallabies 2023

Both of Allan Ala'alatoa and Taniela Tupou are included in the squad proper, not in rehab. Presumably, both are ready to go against SA. I don't think it's likely we see NonGGor in the team unless there is a pre-game injury to one of the first choice THPs. It is the LHP side that I think we are...

    Wallabies 2023

Reg, are you sure about Jack Wright's ineligibility? He's apparently been with the Vikings since u15s and as far as I am aware is a born and bred Aussie. Also, have you confirmed Ollie Sapsford's eligibility. My understanding is that he qualifies through an Australian grandparent, but there may...

Does that rule Bell out definitely. If so, are there only two LHPs in the squad? What happens if one goes down pre-game? Risky?

Super Rugby 2023 Final - Chiefs v Crusaders

Exactly how I saw that first half DP. And Jacobson's YC for not on his feet when the Cru are lying all over the tackled player when in possession effectively denying the Chiefs any chance at all of competing for the ball at the breakdown. Very one sided refereeing atm.

    Wallabies 2023

I think we saw this before with Foley at 10 and Quade at 12. IIRC almost led to the end of Quade in the Wallabies. Would not be smart and could damage a promising career for Gordon.

    Brumbies v Highlanders - Sunday 14/5

Thank goodness for a few of our NZ posters. It would be very barren otherwise. I have just about given up on the game threads because of the lack of (even begrudgingly) support from Aussie posters who support other sides. Not even support for another Aussie side, but in many cases absolute vitriol.
