    Wallabies 2023

1: Reds "Dont know what was happening" but... 2: Wallabies: no context among probably the most context heavy period in Australian rugby. 3. Conclusion: Rebels watch out. Not overdone? Just a tad? Tupou's "place" is world class and could step into the starting role in pretty much most clubs he...

The one and only Wallaby Coach thread

Thorn is a huge asset to rugby in Australia. I'd suggest he made HC too early, and possibly hit a ceiling because of it. It would be great to see him continue the journey building a broader repertoire ultimately to return to greater things. From his shoes though, League surely has an attraction...

    Wallabies 2023

This seems a rough assessment. We have posters here still going nuts about the performance of EJ (Eddie Jones) and his desecration of the Wallabies (something I also suspect has rough edges). Tupou is simply speaking with consistency to the general narrative. Thorn had done his time, extended too far by a...

    Australian Rugby / RA

I'm not doubting what Skelton can offer, BUT: He would be unavailable for in-season Wallaby squads, unavailable for lead-up tests outside the international window, and generally unavailable in the training and leadership environment outside of parachuting in at the last moment in the test...

    Wallabies 2024

We keep including Skelton in pack names "to build around". For the life of me, outside of RWC years (and even there it isn't as effective as seems to be implied), I can't see us building anything in the pack when a fulcrum of the pack structure and systems is missing in training. It is not as if...

Right up until we lost to Fiji in the RWC group - I would have argued against that. Now? Not so much.

Do you know where the RA car park is?

Local population dynamics, available support, and crowd sizes are always going to be a question. The flipside of that coin though - if Australian rugby is going to host any domestic strength within a professional competition, let alone a domestic professional comp - how the hell do you do that...

I think Quade might make a great coach. He's not likely to get much of a chance at Super level though, at any level, and I don't see him trying club thirds quickly. Maybe moving from playing to part of the coaching team in Japan? Give it time and who knows. Off topic but still.

We are a little my way, now, from consistent top 5.

    Queensland Reds 2024

This is the most excited I've been about an HC since Link. Great to hear about those reports. I couldn't have greater anticipation to watch where Les takes this crew. Not exactly "preseason premiers" more a thirst to see how it goes and to glue myself to the journey.

Half, I don't think I disagreed with any of that and generally I like your thinking. It's just a conversation which is so circular we are drilling holes.

I have always respected Half's posts. What has been passionate and relevance through "capture in a "wide net" is headed toward redundancy. Well passed tautology at least. It is pretty much an observe, watch and wait at this point. I'm pretty uncomfortable with where things look to be headed...

Having no NRC is better how?

This gives the franchise/State team fans the chance to watch the developing talent vying for the next season. Which is great. OTOH: 1. it does nothing to satisfy SRU and we have seen that the comp goes nowhere with those guys in sabotage mode. Like it or not, this time whatever happens has to...

Why on earth are we discussing NRL in Papua New Guinea in a thread topic of Australian Rugby / Rugby Australia?

    Wallabies 2024

Hey MS. Can you expand on Skelton and the La Rochelle method in the lineouts? My understanding was that they used used him as jumper in situations where the oppositions was very likely to prioritise lineout maul defence over jumping - ie when he was not likely to be challenged. Noting that when...

It's weird that Eddie thinks he is in a position to issue dictates to the State RUs. My initial thought is generally the the more successful clubs are unlikely to be particularly bothered whether he stays or not. Maybe I'm just mis-applying my own largesse. Some State unions will be keen on...

    Wallabies 2024

We need someone making enough money and some control over cost. Note that the Wallabies are a key contributor to rugby funds but not a sole contributor. Broadcast revenue has been limited by having enough content. It would also contribute to have better audience capture which can be targeted...

    Wallabies 2024

How do we think that is going as with our recent success rate and dumped out of the RWC in the group stage? How do we think it will pan out as we settle into closer to a ranking of 10 that away from it? On the back of the coming BIL and RWC better income is anticipated at any rate, the real...

I "ignored" Bullrush, just temporary as it was getting tiresome, all intention of unignoring soon. Coming back to the forum, the last three pages have 18 responses to Bullrush or comment about the discourse and 11 posts that were thread "relevant". Someone can check my numbers but they will be...
