    NSW AAGPS 2024

Based on the trials so far I would rank them Shore and Joeys Newington and Kings Scots and Riverview With any side capable of beating any other on a day.

Rugby results at New may well suffer if they go co-ed. Granted. As much as I love rugby, its not the game of the future, its been bleeding slowly for decades. The sports of today and tomorrow, on the world stage, are football, basketball , swimming , tennis , athletics, rowing and, to a lesser...

No odds board is set to to 100%, its always more. This is not an appropriate forum to be nominating odds so I turned them into percentages.

My latest expectation based on results to date: 25% Scots, Joeys 20% Kings, Shore 16% Newington 14% Riverview Kings and Newington firming, Joeys and Shore blowing but shaping up as the closest competition in years. Any team not turning up with their "A" game in any week can be beaten.

My Premiership expectation based on results to date...early days but 3 schools in better form at this point. 28% Joeys 25% Shore, Scots 16% Kings 14% Newington, Riverview I saw the Newington/Scots match and it was a fair result. Both teams showed glimpses of past glories but I felt Scots...

I used to enjoy the Blues Brothers movie when they were putting the band back together. What a hoot.

Hello Black & White, He isnt a student, he is a young man, with good credentials, who is coaching the first VIII this year. Cant comment on what was said to Brother Joseph but C. Holliday is a coach not a student and a rower not a rugby player.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

There was a time kids from racing families were considered by some not the right sort to have in the playground of a GPS school. During the sixties and seventies lots of bookies sons went to Newington, having been rejected elsewhere. I was one . Newington has long had an inclusive view of boys...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Good to hear Shore have joined the chase. Now we dont have to fret about another member school being eventually consigned to un-competitive status. With at least 6 of the 9 schools now making places for talented sportsmen, time for the Heads to drop the pretend agreements on who/when/how...

Was at The Knox v New game yesterday. Wonderful game of rugby. Knox showed patches of brilliance , ruggedness and skillful speed . Along with the results coming through from Waverley matches each week , cant wait for a combined competition to get going.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

The desire for the GPS member schools to not do all they can to be the best at everything ( including all competitive sports) seems to prevail on this thread. Don't quote their rules to me, nearly none of the schools has always complied with the sporting scholarship rules so the rules are an...

Prediction 1: The changed competition format wont make any difference to school rugby recruitments Prediction 2 : The new 1 round competition with trial games against CAS just sets up a structure for a larger competition later ( one which was supposed to happen next year but didn't)

It would, IMO, certainly generate a lot of interest if all 3 associations combined into one rugby competition. And, in the top level GPS competition , it probably cant afford to lose anymore participants.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2016

A 9 school GPS of which 6 play top level rugby, and 5 regularly win those matches. Seems like a compelling case to try and grow the game. Bring on the CAS and the ISA.

Not surprising. Grammar Edgecliff play the top team from every school in Under 12's. Well its a great development and one many will hope isn't a one-off.
