Super Rugby 2024: NZ, Drua & Moana matches

With their finals berth assured the Rebels are just as likely to rest players to be as fresh as possible for the Blues/Hurricanes in the final. Unless they're really desperate to come in 6 and probably face the Brumbies in a quarter, but that's not entirely guaranteed and after Friday night...

    Round 14 : Reds v Force 24 May (Suncorp)

I don't have much issue with Lynagh's misses last night. They were all from the sideline (and he got a few of those still) and he struck the ball well for each one. I really miss the days of the goalkickers.co.za guys out of South Africa doing a full statistical breakdown taking into account...

    Refereeing decisions

The ball is not out when the half touches the ball, the law is clear that would be a penalty and not an error from the ref in awarding it.

Super Rugby 2024: NZ, Drua & Moana matches

Yeah, if there's a team that can come back from 18-0 down in the space of 40 minutes, it's the Drua, but I think we're pretty locked in to the Highlanders taking full points from this one and the Drua taking none

Super Rugby 2024: NZ, Drua & Moana matches

^ most of that might be academic though, just turned the game on to see the Highlanders up 15-0 at 33 minutes

Super Rugby 2024: NZ, Drua & Moana matches

Losing bp makes almost no difference to the Drua, they're 2 points ahead of the Force and Saders, being 3 won't make much difference, unless they only pick up a losing bp against the Rebels in the final round. If the highlanders get a losing bp the Crusaders season is over - the best they could...

    Refereeing decisions

Yeah, the ball is not out until it has been removed from the ruck, laying hands on it is not enough. Here is the clarification from 2014: https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/guidelines/7 That article includes a helpful video in which Scotland are penalised for taking Genia out in this exact...

    Round 14 : Reds v Force 24 May (Suncorp)

I think there is an argument for picking players headed overseas if their form is good enough, but that doesn't exactly apply to Nawaqanitawase, given he's leaving the game all together. I think he really needs to be banging the door down to make sense and I haven't seen that from him this year...

Fraser McReight won the Frank Ivory medal (indigenous round MotM) last night: https://x.com/Reds_Rugby/status/1794338048408486268?t=6vpFqpzeq8THYyT_SVV-wg&s=19

    Wallabies 2024

He shouldn't have got the wrong Lonergan, but the editors also should have picked that up. Is he that wrong on the 2nd rowers though? He's not saying they'll all be there come the first squad, just that it's a pretty flat field right now without much in the way of stand outs and any of them...

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

I'm not sure if I'd be running a straight 7 on the bench for the Wallabies too often, but I think he's most ready to make the step up of the uncapped options. He doesn't have as complete a game as the others, but his pilfering is at that international level so you can throw him in and let him...
