RC - Wallabies vs Springboks, Gold Coast Sunday 12 September 8:05 PM

QC (Quade Cooper)/Lolesio, Kerevi, JOC (James O'Connor) would be a pretty good backline.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Only in Australia is there a lack of a foundation. Getting a domestic comp, investing in club rugby, getting into more schools etc. These are not things that haven't happened because of Super Rugby. Found an interesting article from 2016. It seems some in NZ thought that even NZ would have to...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Oh - cos I thought that there were "101 other trends which have occurred"

    Rugby Championship 2021

Yep - he's a work horse who still has room to get better.

Right. The same things as 20yrs ago.

RC - Wallabies vs Springboks, Gold Coast Sunday 12 September 8:05 PM

It's not that surprising if QC (Quade Cooper) is in and Hodge replaces Banks. Hodge is not a Test 10, he is a better fullback and there seems to be more upside to Lolesio than Banks.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The only trend that matters in sport can be followed in the win/loss column. That hasn't changed.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

To me, SANZAR tried to grow way too quickly. Super 12 went for 10 years and was a great comp. Expanded to to 14 and that was fairly good too. But after only 5 years it expands again to Super 15. Only 5 years later and it expands another 3 teams to 18 across 5 countries. The competition gets...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Trolled?! I'm pretty sure Dan and I are both dvocating what we think will make for better quality of rugby in Australia. You can disagree but fuck off with your 'trolling'. You guys act like Aussie rugby fans are the only ones who live here and enjoy good rugby. Plenty of kiwis live here and pay...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Fuck me - it's not about playing NZ. It's about playing the better competition. A domestic comp may develop a handful of quality players - like soccer and basketball do here - and those 3-5 players will fuck off overseas at the first possible chance. And then the Wallabies can be like your...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Who is being facetious now? Popularity can only built on if the product is good. A Super Rugby Au might pull back some old rugby fans who had lost interest because of all the losing but the rugby actually has to be good. Part of the NRL and AFL appeal is that it is the best league and aussie rules you...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Exactly. And you can expect the same kind of results from the Wallabies. The Socceroos will never be World Cup contenders in any serious sense and both these codes are pretty happy when they get a few players through to the actual big leagues.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

If you want the Wallabies as good as the Socceroos on the International stage - sure LMAO

    Where to for Super Rugby?

From what I've read, it seems some think that a Super Rugby Au will be just as popular and lucrative as the NRL and AFL are. I think it will be more the NBL and maybe A-League at best.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

The onus to 'level the playing field' rests solely with Australia. You can't demand your 5 teams and then blame the other side for having an un-even playing field. LOL Again, NZ & SA have done the hard yards of building a domestic comp - you guys want us to do that work for you.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

OK - so I can understand and get my head around this point. If you are saying that participating in Super Rugby AND developing a domestic competition is simply not possible due to resources, I get that. From that point of view, I would argue that you go the other way and build back what worked...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

How does 5 teams 'suit NZ'? Wasn't that Australia's request? You've basically sabotaged the competition from the start by forcing 5 teams on us.

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Again, people talk about the NRL and the AFL here. The NRL is basically only played in 2 states. The AFL expands something like 1 team every 15yrs from a quick glance. When I look back at Australian Super Rugby, the Western Force could probably have been sustained. The player depth was still...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

You guys are writing as if NZ wanted Australia to have 5 teams. :D:D Australia has the 5 teams that you guys wanted despite everyone knowing that at least 3 but likely 4-5 will not be competitive. When that reality is pointed out you all cry and moan about losing a franchise. Super Rugby is the...

    Where to for Super Rugby?

Why would anyone want to watch a 'Champions League' between NZ Super Rugby Champions and Australian teams who are clearly a class below? The best Australian team is not even close to the worst NZ team. The gap is not going to close simply by playing yourselves more.
