If the chicken schnitzel, chips and gravy could all be placed on a soft bread roll I'd be willing to make a trek out especially for it.

Not sure of scores since I've been unable to find anyone from GPS or Uni (players and coaches from both sides) who were keeping score, and I never keep track of it either. Those that I've spoken to said that Uni probably got up, but it was what you'd expect from the first trial - lots of...

    Rugby 7s general chat

I'm pitching a dark horse: Elia Tuqiri Elia has been coaching Brisbane Fiji and Newstar 7s teams on the Aussie 'circuit' for more than 4 years or so and both teams have batted above average considering the playing personnel and the limited training time together that the teams usually have...

The day I was referring to was a club-wide trial - all 16 teams from both clubs. A logistical masterpiece and a great experience. I think on Saturday they only have access to one field (the main one) so the alternative to splitting the colts and grades was to go from 8am until 8pm. I've been...

Speaking of best.... Uni play GPS at Albany Creek this weekend and I'm excited for the burgers and hospitality at GPS Juniors at Albany Creek. I spent a day there a few years ago now and their organisation, hospitality and BBQ quality has not been topped. Yep, by my...

Doesn't every club think they're the best club around though? And isn't "best" a subjective term that may not necessarily refer to playing results and representative players? I didn't think he was talking about on-field results - he mentioned that not many players leave once they were there...

Haha - obviously I disagree with the content of the statement, but there must be something in the substance. The turnover rate at Crosby Rd has been, at least to my recollection, extremely low over the years. How many Premier and first grade players last year had chalked up 50 and 100 games...

I think the biggest change I've noticed is the impact that Scott Allen's coaching is having. There has been a bigger focus on learning and performing basic skills while fatigued. I haven't seen much scrum training at this stage, but with trials starting this week I'm sure that will change.

Filth have you seen much of how Matheson is going? Has he implemented many changes to the style of training from recent years?

    1. The UQ Rugby Club didn't enter a bid because there was tremendous trepidation about entering into a commitment to lose 200-500K per year for the next few years when the competition itself was poorly elucidated and the ARU were unable to answer even the most basic of questions about it. The...

Hahaha TT that could give Coach Heenan the chance to bench him in favour of the incumbent for a second time.... Don't think he'll ever go near a Heenan-coached team again. He lives over in Tiger territory though.

I definitely know that Prem Colts been able to play in Prem Grade for as many games as needed and still be able to return to Prem Colts, even just for finals. BUT I don't know if the same rule applied to reserve grade though, because it was run under different comp rules. I haven't been able...

Was JUST thinking the exact same thing! And all those poor battlers at Fridays when the ugly lights come on can finally call themselves first grade footballers! What is now called Premier Reserve used to compete as First Grade in the Brisbane Rugby Union competition (I think many clubs just...

One might be Bond, and I don't have any information about that one way or another. It would be unusual if Griffith, QUT or CQU put in a team, given their only real rugby connection is Uni Games. But I assume the other University-connected team you are referring to is University Rugby Club? If...
