It does sound like that, but he was also definitely retiring after Ireland, and after the last World Cup. So I'm saying there's a chance.

Good to know the NRL's feeling threatened even by MLR.

Remindling...I assume you meant rekindling, but I like remindling.

    Super Rugby Pacific 2025

I thought the usual was 35 in the full squad - but supposedly there are exemptions in 2025 to fit the former Rebels in.

    Australian Rugby / RA

I think his relationship to Australian rugby hasn't really changed since he was playing - he was always an outsider.

Bloody hell, who'd want to be the RA employee who has to listen to this garbage from SRU. I'd be telling them "sorry to see you go, hope BarTV can give you a better deal than Stan..." Or maybe the club Facebook stream.

Manenti has the technical skills, and players who've come from 7s to Super Rugby consistently seem to be well developed around basic skills, etc. He's obviously well versed in the Australian system. Walsh might be a longer shot, but he's just as good a motivator as Cheika. We've chosen Wallaby...

Alternative take on Wallabies coach if Schmidt doesn't continue past Lions: appoint John Manenti or Tim Walsh. For long-term success at the Wallaby level, we need better Super teams. We go into 2025 with possibly the best line-up of Super coaches for a long time. Don't disturb that group -...

    Women's Rugby

How much of an improvement does Caslick and 1-2 Levi's mean for the Wallaroos? I mean, it's got to be something.

One comment I've heard from overseas players who've moved to Super Rugby is that the pre-season seems endless (for non-Wallabies) - very long in comparison to N Hemisphere competitions. It shouldn't be unreasonable to play some more games in Sept-Oct.

On the Roar podcast a few weeks ago, Dan Herbert seemed to be playing down the possibility of this Super Rugby AU, in favour of a national club comp. So, interesting that it's popped up again - it is the obvious solution, I guess the Super franchises are pushing it hard.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Well, yeah, if the first half of 2024 is any guide, we will get the Rebels directors' response to RA through Geoff Parkes on Monday morning on The Roar, and some breathless, superficial commentary from Christy Doran a day later - but actual information? Harder to find.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

The most frustrating part of all this is that much money will be burned, and no, we'll never hear the full story, because as mentioned, there will be a settlement before anyone needs to prove their case.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Any idea when this would actually get to court?

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

"...is obliged to indemnify the Rebels for liabilities to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)..." I think the directors might be burying the lede here.

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby

Coaches. We spend so much time talking about players, it's the coaches that are the key here. On the upside, it seems our 4 Super Rugby sides are better positioned now for coaching than they have been for a long time.

    Super Rugby Pacific 2025

Our elite players are playing a lot more than 4 months, they'll be playing in the Wallabies. But I agree we need more games for the group below that, personally I'd go for the non-Wallaby version of Super Rugby AU after club rugby, plus some Aus A games, but y'know, I think there's been some discussion...

    Super Rugby Pacific 2025

I disagree, Super Rugby was at its best when it was a short, intense competition - the Super 12 was 11 rounds, if i remember correctly, with just two semi-finals and a final. It created intensity in every game, teams could hardly afford to drop a game. Super Rugby was at its worst when it became...

U18 Academy Games and Australia U18s

That was just a very enjoyable game to watch - really pleasing to see a young Australian team playing so direct, so well overall. Next-gen NZ players certainly haven't lost the catch-pass skills, though - some really nice work there. Ref was very clear and decisive in his calls, excellent...
