Wallabies v USA Eagles, 5th September, Soldier Field, Chicago

There are some players that have stood up as bench players through the TRC. The following have made excellent contributions coming on after 50; TPN Holmes Slipper / Sio Mumm / Skelton / Horwill White / Phipps Beale Tomoua Of these I would mark some of them as better off the bench than...

Bledisloe #2 - AUS v NZL, Eden Park, Auckland, August 15th

I haven't commented on the game yet so here is my impression; 1) Our forwards went missing; Forcefan's stats tell a very damning story. 2) The speed of the game was too quick for Sio, Kepu, Skelton and Palu although Kepu seemed to keep his efforts coming. 3) Skelton is not a starter. 4) Douglas...

Biggest single difference and a crucial one is Foley for Beale. Foley adds alot to those outside him.

Wallabies have been working on their physicality. This seems fair enough but for what purpose. Is the idea to play more like the Springboks? Is it to give the players the sense that they should be able to physically keep up with the AB's? We need to play smart and physical with a smart...

Bledisloe #1 - AUS v NZL, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, August 8th

I've been thinking about the AB's gameplan and how it will change depending on who the Wallabies select. The key to this game is the AB's kicking strategy. If we select a forward pack with only 2 proper jumpers and a part time jumper then they will play the territory game. Dan Carter and Ben...

Sanchez's thought process when defending Tomane's try. Here comes Folau returning my shitful kick, what will I do? 1) Track sideways to keep a 3 on 3 defensive play. 2) Change direction and run into one of their players then dive like a soccer player and try and milk a penalty.

The AB's gameplan eliminated him from the contest. I would imagine the cheapshots are borne from frustration at not being able to get into a game. When someone finally gets close to him then he pummels the crap out of them, sometimes late.

Last time Skelton played the AB's he was miles too slow and could not keep up and made no impact. He has improved his stamina but Horwill needs to be there to cover for him and possibly even start. Either way Skelton is highly unlikely to play 80mins. Simmons will start.

Bledisloe #1 - AUS v NZL, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, August 8th

I'm leaning towards; 10 Quade 12 Lilo Quade gets the nod because in Foley's last game for Waratahs, his field kicking was not long enough to relieve pressure when exiting. Quades boot has been very good in the last 2 matches. Foley's lack of height was also exploited when he was defending...

They are hard to bash because they are so damn clever and skilled. Attack their strengths might be a strategy for some of the game.

Bledisloe #1 - AUS v NZL, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, August 8th

Further thought. This is not a game to use as a stepping stone to the RWC. This game is a must win game which lays down a marker incase we have to play the AB's in the RWC (assuming France hasn't knocked them out). Momentum is far more important here than tinkering with selections. I expect the...

Bledisloe #1 - AUS v NZL, ANZ Stadium, Sydney, August 8th

the AB breakdown strategy i a little frustrating. Absolute minimum nubers go into a breakdown allows a team like the boks an easy ride and they can flood the breakdown and get numerous turnovers as we saw last night. Our approach relies on the breakdown being policed correctly. the french refs...

Pumas vs Wallabies, 25th July 2015, Mendoza

Hey Bar Bar, I cannot help feeling that the gameplan against the Boks didn't help Higgers. But also, he didn't adapt when the gameplan wasn't working. He an/or Fardy were needed to help in the tight because the tight 5 were losing the ruck contest. I want to like Higgers game but I have yet...

I think McCalman did enough to keep Higgers out. Whilst McCalman wasn't amazing, at least his jumper needed washing after the game.

The scrum is still our Achilles heel. Yet we have had a second half revival in each of our previous tests. Is James Slipper fit?

Why is the scrum better in the 2nd half.
