What is the fundamental structure here? Pay players and coaches in line with the revenue their teams generate?

How many success stories from private ownership do we have so far? zero from three? I wonder how much of RA's current debt is from bailing out private owners of Super Rugby clubs?

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

FTA ratings barely matter anymore anyway. Nine show the game on FTA because a) they have to, and b) to drive subs to Stan, c) rugby advertising is still a very valuable demographic We have no idea how many are watching on Stan, so we are missing a huge element of the conversation.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Channel nine paid a lot of money for there not to be a clash. We shouldn't make the mistake of thinking there would necessarily be a broadcaster willing to pay more for a sat primetime spot when it's up against another big final.

Anyone able to translate what Tate's trying to say here?

    Refereeing decisions

Same thing happens to every player in a maul or a ruck, as soon as the half takes it out. Or if you pass it directly behind you to a player running around. You would expect a ref to penalise any of them though The game isn't reffed like that

    Proposed Nations Championship

I'd say there's zero chance of that, given SANZAAR and Six Nations are selling the concept. The two "invitational" teams from outside the camp will get paid something, but it won't be a revenue share

Australia v NZ. Bledisloe Cup Series 2024. Sep 21, Sep 28

Isn't the answer simply that we have no depth, so when we rest key players against "weaker" teams on tours, our b-teams aren't good enough to beat their a-teams?

    Refereeing decisions

Wilson was 20m upfield when it was kicked. He turned around and ran back to that spot, tracking the ball. If it's legal for one to do it, why do you think it's illegal for 4 to do it?

    Refereeing decisions

I also think it's a bit strange to think this is purely an all black tactic, or that we don't do it too? Would everyone really be happy if Wilson was penalised in the first kick of the game here?

In isolation, sure, but RA has to deal with NRL block bookings, and they definitely get priority for SFS on Saturday if they want it. I thought it was a great day out at Homebush. Pretty much the only big blocks of empty seats were at the top tier of the western stand.

    Refereeing decisions

Not really the same thing though. The players in front of the ball career are offside and aren't allowed to impact play. Players running back to where a kick will land are onside, and may play the ball - we just don't know if they will yet.

    Wallabies 2024

I think I'm right in saying we've lost our last game against every side ranked above us in the rankings except Scotland (and they won the previous three).
  14. Strewthcobber

    Refereeing decisions

I think what is being judged here is the "intentional" part of the law. They aren't intentionally preventing a specific opponent form from having the opportunity to compete for the ball.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Afternoon rugby, great for crowds, never good for ratings

    Refereeing decisions

So this is what is the law that is actually penalised. Running off your line into the path of a chaser - going to be a penalty. Running to a point and stopping before it's anyone's path - probably OK But there's a lot of "it depends on the circumstances" about all of this

I've been a bit of a critic of Harry Wilson in the past but I think he played his best game I've seen yesterday. Looks like he has lost a bit of weight, but improved his workrate. Multiple times he carried in the same phase of play. Got over the A-line. Topped the tackle count too

The reporting was Gordon (and possibly Donaldson) weren't selected because of illness after the trip home from Argentina. Not dropped.

Needs to work on his sheepish look after jumping to catch the first kickoff and immediately stepping out. Coach killer #1 of the night, 4 seconds in
