Australia A - Back on the Cards

Will Reds players who go on Wallaby EoYT be able to turn out for the January games? Some will be subject to the off season requirements

Australia A - Back on the Cards

England A and Bristol will be paying a fee for us to play against them (as well as Ireland as that game is outside the test window?). Presumably this covers the cost of the tour.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

(Average audience was 772,000, peak was 895,000. The average was a new record for the comp) I'm always a bit surprised how relatively small the crowds/ratings are for French club rugby. Having said that, this is all paying subscribers, so a bit different to the AFL/NRL FTA/Fox model

Australia A - Back on the Cards

Interesting bit of that Roar article. With 64 players on tour, and enforced rest periods after the tour, it may put a bit of a hole in the Super Rugby pre-season

    Refereeing decisions

Banning diving is a pretty massive change in how a try can be scored. Really limits what you have to do to get from a running position to grounding the ball. And probably doesn't improve anyone's safety The ambiguity just ensures what is common practice, what refs have thought is OK probably...

Australia v NZ. Bledisloe Cup Series 2024. Sep 21, Sep 28

Could you imagine the fallout if we didn't take the points down by two just before half time and then didn't score a try? Wilson would get slaughtered.

Related question. Why is Australia the only team full of pro rugby players that needs an entire year to adapt to a defensive system?

    Refereeing decisions

It's up to the match official to make a judgement call. If they think the diver, or the tackler do something dangerous they can penalised it. In this instance the ref thought it was fine.

    Refereeing decisions

World Rugby's clarification permitted tackling the player diving for a try

    Refereeing decisions

NZRU asked for clarification from WR (World Rugby) in 2022 on this sort of issue. WR (World Rugby) agreed that jumping over a tackle is illegal, but also this https://www.world.rugby/the-game/laws/clarification/2022/3/

Australia v NZ. Bledisloe Cup Series 2024. Sep 21, Sep 28

The defense don't burn energy if you don't make it over the advantage line. It's significantly more fatiguing for the team on attack to go through multiple phases going nowhere. More player involvements as you need more.players in the ruck to secure the ball, running further etc

Australia v NZ. Bledisloe Cup Series 2024. Sep 21, Sep 28

Tom Wright is pretty much the only strike weapon we have though. The whole team knows it. He always plays his worst when he tries to win the game on his own, but sometimes it's also the only way we are going to win

Australia v NZ. Bledisloe Cup Series 2024. Sep 21, Sep 28

Even though the first half looked good, we had 67 attacking rucks to 29 at half time if florugby stats are correct. And yet had made 171m to 237m. We worked a lot harder for less return. This is where the fatigue and errors come from.
