    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

I agree with the last two posts. We could easily regulate it much like colleges in the US where only a certain amount of scholarships can be given. The GPS and CAS are two great organisations and could be a great pathway for a career in rugby if done right. I never understood why a violin...

I think you need to check those numbers. Not all coaches at Scots are getting anywhere near that amount. Check your facts first. In regards to Blades it is a big loss as head had been around the college since 98. But good luck to him and smart move by Joey's. Plenty of people at Scots are not...

Blades was only offered a part time roll at Scots for 2019. Joey's were wise and offered a full time roll. Surely you know all this Joker

I saw a video off the day but was there a mix up and Kings thought they won it?

So stealing Merc hubcaps or badges is fine, but some drunk old boys are beyond the pale? Also utter garbage re Ken Catchpole. He was often at the college to hand out 1st XV jerseys and always spoke of his pride for the school. Please don't make up such rubbish about such a nice man who did a...

Sorry I meant 1963 High for position 9. However Alan was a wallabies coach but never played for the wallabies.

Good to know. I thought that was the 1991 side with Burke, Kennedy, Junee & Jorgasen. Hence why I put them in 1st, but if it was 1990 then I change it!

Alright gentleman, seeing as there is a bit of time to fill before next season, I would love to know your thoughts on the 10 best GPS champion teams for all time. I have mine below and I'm am going off what I have seen from the early nineties and heard along the way. I am sure you will all have...

Ha, as an old boy with a nephew there I am aware of their policy. My statement was along the way not this present day. Not dropping names but there was one around the late 90’s and there was also one around the mid 2000’s.

Shore are strong at rowing due to having large numbers of participants in the boat shed. They also have top quality coaches as well as a strong program from the juniors up. Unlike Newington in the 90’s where Morgan concentrated on the Eights, Shore will often have year 12 boys in the fours when...

The Seconds Shield is still in the dining room hall. Reminds me of 1993 when Joeys dropped the shield off in a cab

Good points Joker. I had a chat to one of the Scots coaches yesterday and he was full of praise for Kings and Joeys, noting they will be the strongest sides at this early stage. He also agreed that the rep footy took its toll but then was quick to add that it worked in Scots’s favour in year past.

Ha ha you crack me up one eyed Joker. Joeys only just won a tied comp. it’s not like they went undefeated and rolled everyone. No doubt it was well deserved and sparks some life into the comp but Kings also won and Scots will lick their wounds and be back next year.

Great win by Kings yesterday and whilst it wasn’t the result I was hoping for it was an enjoyable day. Supporters on both sides were in great voice. Scots for the second week in a row kicked too much and did not control the ball. However it’s clear GPS rugby is alive and well and next year will...

Jono Bowman left in 1998, played a bit in the 1st in 1997 and full time in 1998. He was Tom's cousin and his brother left Scots in 1992. Jono went to Shore as his Dad was upset with the 1993 imports.
