NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

The CCC v CHS 1s game had no rain during the match at all, only rained prior to the match, and once the pumps got going at Forshaw Park, the ground was in great condition. I think the score was something like 60-7, so CHS had a very convincing win that day and their forward pack was very...

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

Tepai and Taane were listed in the program and I'm pretty sure they were on all game. There was no rain, apart from the last 5 minutes or so, but there was quite a good shower during IIs, so the ball and ground were a bit slippery. A good match, and GPS certainly didn't dominate. IMHO I...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2013

There was no GPS IIIs game today. They are playing this Friday. Check out the 'NSW Schools 2013' thread where all schoolboy matches are discussed, teams and fixtures listed and comparisons of teams and players shared. Funnily enough, Rugby From The Back Row, The teams GPS play against don't...

Good call Hugh - didn't have those team lists readily at hand...

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

Given their selections in their own associations this season, let's hope the selectors don't rely on past form over current form and give some new blood a go... Agree re your summary of the key skill for a hooker - a straight and accurate throw and a quick thinking brain are the most crucial...

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

What about other hookers in the competition such as the CHSI and CASI guys, E.Craig and N.Koutsoukis, and the GPS I hooker, M.Serhon. Also their backups in IIs. Seems the #2 position rarely, if ever, gets a mention in disucssions re lineups. As a latter day piggy, I love watching a good hooker...

Given that CHS d CAS 25-10 last week at Cranbrook (and CHS will be strugling to make an impact v GPS this Friday) I'd agree...

(Following the CASI v CHS I match at Cranbrook) Sideline Eye said: ↑ Nice work overall from CHS. They should give GPS a good shake I reckon. Not quite so good v ISA 1s yesterday - seemed to be a different team, so perhaps playing a tougher more aggressive side found out some flaws. Again, the...

    NSW CHS Rugby 2013

Not quite so good v ISA 1s yesterday - seemed to be a different team, so perhaps playing a tougher more aggressive side found out some flaws. Again, the CHS were vulnerable outwide with a number of ISA overlaps throughout the game. Also, some simple missed tackles in mid-field led to ISA...

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

Does anyone have the updated kick-off times for the above games this Friday? The announcer at the Rat Park games yesterday gave different / earlier times, (which is good, given the lack of lights at Curagul oval).

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

That's correct. Thought for sure they would have taken one on offer in second half that was very doable, but went for touch instead. Agree it was an entertaining game and a good afternoon overall. Any predictions for next week? CHS had a hard day in the office today, but GPS are always...

NSW Schools - Trial Games and Selections 2013

I think the score was actualy ISA 43 v CHS 22. Closer than it looks, as if CHS had potted the extra 3 conversions and 2 penalty attempts that were missed, the score would have been CHS 34. However, ISA were a very strong and determined side and certainly outclassed the CHS backs.

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2013

... I do remember one particular victory by SGS over SJC 1sts in, I think, 1980 or 79, when SGS won at Boronia Park by 1 point with a field goal on the full-time hooter. From roaring crowd to stunned silence. Ah the memories. (I was a spectator, btw).

Dural is a pain to get to in peak hour of an evening, even when you live close. Pennant Hills Rd is a nightmare. Couldn't they have chosen something more central like T.G.Milner, Macquarie Uni or Chatswood, for example?

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2013

Agreed. I just recall very clearly seeing many GPS sides back in my own schoolboy days with a full backline of Joeys socks, or Shore socks - or whoever the leading side was at the time - and wondering how it could be that one school could actually have all THE best backs in the 8 school comp...

NSW JRU State Championships & Representative Teams 2013

Suspect the training would be at Dural Park, Trial Game at Grantham. To be fair, I'm speculating that the coaches might like to try out some combinations and see how the boys fit together in some positions before making a final decision, rather than rely totally on what they saw in the...

Hugh, agreed, but useful to have the full story and recognise the lads. Sorry for not typing out, but here's the AICES team that played CHS 2nd XV on June 2 at Foreshaw Park. (They are numbered top to bottom 1-21 as per their positions on the field. Sorry, the numbers got cut off)

I hear on the grapevine there might be a training run this coming Monday night, and the additional Sydney trial match might now be Sunday June 30 at Grantham Park. Perhaps a clash with club rugby matches for the Sunday comp boys, or at worst backing up for two games, but better to be a club game...

Nice work Hugh, but you missed at least two CHS I boys: Ed Craig - CHS I hooker. And Harry Rowe - CHS I #9. Also one AICES boy: Rohan Zebib - flanker. George Smith said: ↑ A quick look at this year's trialists and which of them represented last year at Zone or higher. U17 Sydney Trialists...

Nice, ... except this is a picture of the main oval in the Knox school grounds ("KG1 Oval, located on the Senior School campus, is pictured" ).
