    Super Rugby General Chat

Is there any prize money for Super Rugby? Or is it just for the glory? I tried to find on google search, without any luck. The European Competitions all have prize money - as far as I could find on google.

I don't think TSC has worked out its best run-on 15 players yet, and their optimal positions. Quite why they didn't use the trials to work that out, only the coaches know. With such a short season, they appear guilty of sticking with players and formations that don't work for too long, then...

    Super Rugby General Chat

When there are (Football in England) 24 teams (46 games) you don't need a playoff system for Premier League - the reward for the winner is consistency and not a potential random/one-off playoff system. As you rightly say, that is what the two domestic Cup competitions are for. The bottom teams...

    Northern Hemisphere Rugby

Tale of two Hemispheres / Rugby Codes and how they sit support wise. RL / RU - respective finals on the same day, Wembley and Twickenham hosting - RL crowd 65,000, RU crowd 82,000.

Yes - outward as opposed to inward - didn't translate to TSC 1XV Coaching success. That said, dual international for different countries is no mean feat.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

"The other issues at TSC is teams aren't picked on abilities favoritism is rife!" This has been the norm at TSC since the Brian Smith days (he had his backrow favourites), and his legacy continues with the current DOR / Coaches. Last year TSC reacted too late to early losses from dubious back 3...

"A bit like the Tah's, Talented, but not a team." The parallels are well noted, a NSW anomaly - another saying that rings true: 'hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard'.

Didn't see the game - really like to see TSC play a game in good conditions to evaluate them now vs their draw to TKS and loss to J a few weeks ago. Certainly wrong players in wrong positions isn't helping the boys - still time to turn it around though.

That is a real setback for TSC - wet weather smarts required - was that missing by the BH boys?

    Waratahs 2025

"we would all be saying "what a tackle!" Hmmmm - Walsh had already got the ball away, so even if the tackle attempt had been legal it would still never have been a 'tackle'. If anything, he was potentially guilty of stepping in too early - something another Waratah, not long out of school, has...

No criticism, just observation - the conditions underfoot were awful - made kicking from the tee a lottery - several adult/parent View supporters were screaming for the boys to take points from penalties, which showed how little they understood the conditions. Kick to the corner and maul in was...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

Watched TSC vs View 1s - TSC played the conditions marginally better with a lot of dropped ball for both sides as expected; close at the end but a deserved win for TSC. TSC #8 was used as the midfield battering ram, with good success, while the new TSC #7 played a blinder and made up for #8's...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

I see the TSC #12 from last week has been moved to #8 (more akin to his RL spot) - a challenge to master that Union scrum position though, interesting. Quite a big shuffle in the pack moving last week's #6 and #8 to #4 and #5. If the #15/#14 trial doesn't work out this week it could be back to...

Just watched Colts 1s Easts vs Sydney Uni - Easts #7 man of the match - masterclass display; pilfers, hit-ups, link play.

    Australian Rugby / RA

"Super Rugby funding must go up and salary cap increased" RA funded? The franchises (bar Force) can't balance their books now with the current salary cap - forget assets, it is the cashflow (or lack of) that is killing them.

Fair comment - and I could be specific about a number of the TSC players, but I understand that is not the done form on this site. Let's just say some of the TSC backs tackling was below par, whilst some TSC back's passing and kicking missed their targets and the TSC forward's ball retention...

AKA playing like a League 2nd Row - translating Union Centre to League can work, less the other way.... finesse is the missing art.

    NSW AAGPS 2024

It's a little of both - the new TSC #12 didn't play like a Union back, Joey's back row outplayed TSC (bar Brial), TSC backs need to learn to stay out in defence and trust their Centre to tackle and not step-in; literally a school boy error that so many take with them into Colts Rugby. Joey's...

Dupont said he mastered his jackal skills from his 7s training / playing - 4 turnovers I think?

Similar - just watched as short of time y/s. Front five went well, and the backs, apart from slippery ball (not) catching, were the difference imo. BackRow disappointing and out muscled.
