  1. Eyes and Ears

Springboks v Wallabies, Loftus Versfeld, Sun 9th Jul 1.05am AEST

Because if you can knock it backwards in those situations, you can probably catch it. Knocking it backwards is risky too as the ball is not under control.
  2. Eyes and Ears

Springboks v Wallabies, Loftus Versfeld, Sun 9th Jul 1.05am AEST

It's not different if you knock it backwards. The Law is for a deliberate knock-on. If you deliberately knock it backwards, it's play on. If you deliberately knock it forward, then all the other permutations come into play.
  3. Eyes and Ears

    Shute Shield 2023

That is not correct. There is no restart for repeated infringements due to replacements.
  4. Eyes and Ears

Springboks v Wallabies, Loftus Versfeld, Sun 9th Jul 1.05am AEST

Yes you can. Line out jumpers do it all the time.
  5. Eyes and Ears

    NSW AAGPS 2023

Agreed but it was an illustrative example of a player who had attended the school but left before he reached the Opens age group. I believe there are many more examples of players who started at Grammar and then played 1st XV at other schools but not with the same profile. I am not criticising...

    NSW AAGPS 2023

I won't claim to know all of the history but Grammar became more of an academic school under Headmaster Mackerras in the 70s and 80s. Their rugby program continued on but they lost more games than they won through the 80s and 90s. With the advent of professional rugby in the mid 90s, rugby...

    NSW AAGPS 2023

    Who was NSW 22?
  8. Eyes and Ears

    Wallabies 2023

Porecki, Kellaway, Nick Frost. Did Fardy also have time overseas to enhance his reputation? From memory, Ben Alexander also went os and came back to Super Rugby and Wallaby level.
  9. Eyes and Ears

    CAS Rugby 2023

One reason why is that you can get that information in real time today. We used to have wait for the Sunday newspaper to see the results.
  10. Eyes and Ears

    NSW AAGPS 2023

I thought that 1996 or 1997 side played its first game without a Joeys boy. Happy to be corrected.
  11. Eyes and Ears

    NSW AAGPS 2023

@Joker, I thought there was a GPS 1st team between 1995 and 2000 with no Joeys boy in it.
  12. Eyes and Ears

    Shute Shield 2023

My suspicion is that Angus Bell will play soon but it will be 30 mins off the bench and you won’t see it on a Wed team list.
  13. Eyes and Ears

    Shute Shield 2023

Uni had a couple more Super Rugby players with FF (Folau Fainga'a) and Robertson.
  14. Eyes and Ears

    NSW AAGPS 2023

Orpin could be the goal kicker in 2s.
  15. Eyes and Ears

    Shute Shield 2023

Sydney Rugby also had to pay a decent amount of money for ABC and 7 to televise the games. I would imagine it would be very hard to find this money today so the Stan deal was very timely.
  16. Eyes and Ears

    Shute Shield 2023

There were plenty of players sent off for stomping to the head in the "rucking" days
  17. Eyes and Ears

    NSW AAGPS 2023

No, Grammar rugby is significantly stronger than High rugby at the moment. A combined team wouldn’t look that different to the Grammar team. The Grammar 1sts are basically the equivalent of the Joeys 3rds in a year where Joeys 1sts aren’t a standout team. A combined team would be cannon fodder...

    NSW AAGPS 2023

How do you know the boys aren't just as excited to play in front of the biggest crowd that most of them will ever play in front of?
  19. Eyes and Ears

    CAS Rugby 2023

It is so frustrating that there isn't more desire to fix this issue. I am sure that there could be a way to have a Tier 1 combined competition and still have a GPS and CAS champion declared through that competition. Frankly Australian rugby would be better off for it but "tradition" or...
  20. Eyes and Ears

    NSW AAGPS 2023

I saw a little of the match (best atmosphere I have seen at Weigall for some time). Both teams were a bit nervous and made too many errors. They will be better for the toughness of this match.
