    Melbourne Rebels 2024

It's 100% funny AF. Like scary, but in a you can't get mad kinda way.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I don't know the law and legislation enough outside the ohs act, but that looks like a very technical set of arguments.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It's an interesting one long term, particularly as it looks like from Q4 Seven gets full digital rights to Cricket and AFL: and anything that's on FTA gets broadcast via 7Plus as well. As a younger millennial whose television is a Streaming and Gaming box, that's a big difference in how I might...

    Australian Rugby / RA

The local meet & greets Rugby Victoria advertised all seemed to be ad hoc sessions by local clubs and the Super Sides in the last couple of weeks rather than any formal arrangement as well. Can't blame everything on TEG, Visit Vitoria (or whatever the tourist arm of the government are calling...

    Australian Rugby / RA

In a way, that's probably the least objectionable part of the format: there's nothing really equitable about the fixture, so the more teams in the mix in the post-season, the more likely it is for the "best" team to come out on top.

    Round 2: Chiefs v Brumbies - 3 March 2024

Having watched both this and the round 1 game live, it seemed that the Brumbies (players certainly, I don't know what went on in the backroom staff) didn't think there were any lessons to be learned from the Rebels game, and they played with the exact same strategies and effort, but came up...

    Round 2: Rebels v Force 8pm - 1st March

I think Kev is still probably out of his depth, but I think this turnaround was due to him: Bringing Tualima on @ 6 for Wilkin took you from 2 jumpers plus Leota and Kemeny to 3 plus Kemeny, which presents a much bigger threat to try and cover.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

A Team (mostly) named for Saturday, EPS/Academy/Top Ups in italics Eloff, Dobbins, Pone, Maiava, Smith, Stuart Tualima, Kohan Herbert, Maciu Nabolakasi, Maunder, M Gordon, TBC, Lebron Naea, D Vaihu, Ripley, G Vaihu Res: Timma Faingannuki, Ottavio Tuipulotu, Liam Chapman, Nick Roostan, Wyatt...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

IMO, correct timing, ridiculous conflation. 2015 off of some smart recruitment and retention, the 2014 NRC minor premiership for the Rising, and a few Victoria forward celebrations like the signing of Sefa, plus Fereti and Sione making the Junior WOBs, we had our best finish both in terms of...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I thought Gardner was poor with respect to that, he brought both front rows in for a full chat and then Rhys gave away b2b scrum penalties. We got the yellow from Ikitau anyways so no impact on gameflow, but rusty stuff.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

While you're not incorrect, the midweek Melbourne game is the only game that occurs between Test Matches. You've got everyone who can take 2.5/3 weeks off and afford it: not just those who can make the whole 5.5/6 weeks work. That's a big step up in BILs fans, and as long as there's sufficient...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

World Financial circumstances aside, it's 8 years since the last tour where fans could attend. The Rebels aren't the drawcard, simply a vehicle for a second game in Melbourne.

    Round 2: Rebels v Force 8pm - 1st March

He was very clearly underdone after having gotten no more than 20, 25 minutes of low intensity work in the Drua trial. Don't know what was going on with Proctor and if that catapulted him in, but he always should have been reintroduced from the bench.

    Round 2: Rebels v Force 8pm - 1st March

Glen dropped, Proctor in with Daugunu to wing, Tupou and Mafi start with Talakai and Uelese dropping to bench. Maunder gorn. Lachie will be better for the run last week, but I'm not sure I would have kept him in the starting jersey ahead of backing in Vaihu.

    Super Rugby General Chat

If you're really jerking around with alt history, I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't have seen a Central Vikings, a Highlanders and a couple of deaths/takeovers within those first 10 years anyway,

    Round 2: Rebels v Force 8pm - 1st March

The forwards I wouldn't shake up too much other than swapping Mafi and Uelese. Lineout aside, I don't feel they were pushed around too much by the Brumbies, just, like all 23 players, fucked up ball in hand and in defensive alignment. Maybe someone swaps out for Tualima, maybe Ekuasi or Tupou...

    Aussie Player Exodus

Eloff's last recorded game I can find in South Africa was the U21 Provincial Championship Final, which took place on 07/09/19. By 29/11/19, Rebels had published this article: https://melbournerebels.rugby/news/2019/11/29/get-to-know-cabous-eloff which suggests he was in Australia for at least a...

    Round 2: Rebels v Force 8pm - 1st March

The Force appear to plan to bring over a very very extended squad and the Super W team, who'll play down at Moorabbin at Midday and 2pm respectively on the Saturday. Unfortunately doesn't work for me, Saturday is the nominated "no rugby" day, with Super Round Friday and Sunday (plus Glasgow...
