Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

This is one of those games where we all signs point to a relatively comfortable Wallaby win. Because of this I'm terrified. Argentina by 18.

Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

I get this point, and it's been repeated by AAA in a media conference. But come on, there is no way that losing their captain is a positive. They are playing their fourth game in four weeks. The Wallabies should win this game. Now they may not do that, or make hard work of it, but let's not...

Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

Given Hanigan is leaving for Japan I'd be pretty disappointed if we picked him again. Surely this game is perfect for a Valetini or a Wright.

Wallabies v Pumas, Bankwest (Parra), Sat 5th December

So it appears Matera is going to be sent home by the Pumas for racist tweets or something?

    Wallabies 2020

Again though it's not that simple IMO. What if you've been attacking, you have a pen 5m out, you've just drawn a yellow card and have a dominant scrum? In that scenario it doesn't matter much whether it's the first half or not, the prudent option might be to take a scrum and try and really cash in.

    Wallabies 2020

Is it that simple? I think the art of test match rugby is to know when to take the points, and know when you have your foot on the throat of the opposition and you need to go for the kill. Now the former scenario is far more likely than the latter scenario, but I don't think you should take...

    Wallabies 2020

I think you're being overly argumentative there Rod. Nobody was saying they were better than the Kiwis, just that they were talented. I do think Deans could have moulded them better, but at the same time it's hard to know what went on behind closed doors.

    Wallabies 2020

Just AAA and Slipper would be more than enough. Put Moore in between them, Horwill and Sharpe behind them and there is your achilles heel gone.

    Wallabies 2020

It's a bit hard to judge eras, especially trying to compare Dave Rennie's five minutes in charge to that of other coaches. My memory of the Deans era is the hard work he did to get the squad beginning to blossom in 2010, before his decision to take a left turn tactically in 2011 which we never...

    Waratahs 2021

What back office shenanigans? The Tahs have plenty of flaws, and certainly the NSWRU hasn't covered themselves in glory, but in terms of the operation of a rugby team the Tahs back office have been fine enough. Or maybe I've missed something.

    Waratahs 2021

There needs to be some serious questions asked of the Tahs admin. All the other Super sides seem to be doing OK financially, but the Waratahs are stripping the copper wiring from the walls to sell it online. What has gone so wrong in Sydney that doesn't seem to have in the other teams? Next...

    Waratahs 2021

One of my favourite annual traditions - the Tahs new mystery lock signing. Surely THIS one is going to be the one who doesn't suck!

    Waratahs 2021

This sort of thing is the argument for more of a trade market among Super teams.

    Wallabies 2020

So we deliberately lost the Lions game to get rid of Deans? Now that is some theory. I like having you around rodha, you make this all a lot more fun.

    Wallabies 2020

Yes but initially you said Rennie was Deans 2.0, but now the only similarity you can identify is that they delegate some functions to their assistant coaches. If that's what you are saying then fair enough, but I can't see many similarities beyond that. Also I'm not sure Rennie did 'hand pick'...

    Wallabies 2020

Think that's a long bow. Wasn't a hallmark of the Deans era a more free-form style where we 'play what's in front of us'? I'd suggest the Deans sides were under-coached, which isn't something I'd say about the Rennie Wallabies so far. We seem very tactical, very planned, very coached.

    Australia v Argentina - 21 November, Newcastle

The thing that really pleased me in the first half was our backline play, especially off set piece. Like Brisbane there is clear evidence of thought in everything we do. So refreshing that they have thought about a tactic, practised it and implemented it on Saturday. Sadly we were just an inch...

    Australia v Argentina - 21 November, Newcastle

TT was below his best, doing the things that he does when he's off his game - soft penalties (at least two offsides), getting involved in niggle, just generally off the pace. I wonder if the bench role is better for him long term. Sio was good until his last 10 minutes where he conceded those...

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It had a few names, but The Rugby Club with Kafe's Chalkboard and Moloney's Top 5 was always a good mix of informative and fun.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

People talking about a weekly show neglect to mention we had one for decades, but nobody ever watched it. And it wasn't bad either. I really couldn't care less about a weekly show, as I listen to three podcasts that all do a better job of breaking down the game. I also listen to the GAGR pods...
