    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

I heard from a friend that Channel 7 now have a policy not to mention rugby union at all on their network. Coming off the back of the clear decision by News Corp to do similar, and we've got two major outlets flat out ignoring our game. To counter that, the SMH has ratcheted up rugby coverage...

SRAU RD 10 - Force v Reds Friday 23rd April HBF Park

Card aside, I've been really impressed with Kuridrani's form this season. He's passing the ball better than I've ever seen, hitting hard in defence and just making smart plays. It feels like he's 38 but he's only 30. Probably behind Ikitau and Paisami but we could do worse in a Wallaby squad.

    Wallabies 2021

I think there's a discussion to be had about bringing in PI guys, naturalising them over a number of years, then being shocked when they go offshore when offered more money. Every circumstance is different and as you say JJ you can't begrudge the decisions they make when they have to support a...

And right on cue... To'omua inks a new deal with RA. Sadly Naisirani seems to be headed offshore. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/to-omua-poised-to-re-sign-until-2023-as-naisarani-set-to-leave-australian-rugby-20210422-p57lko.html

    Wallabies 2021

Welcome scrans, good looking side you've picked. Hope we see Kaitu'u given a shot at some stage, he has a bit of spark about him. With BPA going offshore I think we might see a few blokes given a shot at the jersey.

What are our thoughts on Muirhead? I liked his early season work, but maybe his form has stagnated a bit in the past few weeks. I'd love to see him in a Wallabies squad, but I'm not quite sure he's got it in him to play well at the highest level. More than happy to see him given a chance at...

    Wallabies 2021

I watched Sitaleki Timani pretty closely in the Force game, and his game is exactly the same as what it used to be. He's a really big bloke who lumbers around and never really impacts the game quite as much as he should. I'd be pretty surprised if Rennie picks him barring injuries to others...

    Refereeing decisions

I recall there was conjecture around place-kicking when one team used a PK to kick for their winger on the opposite sideline, who caught the ball and scored. I thought what came out of it was a kick for goal had to actually be for goal. Which is to say I think you could line up from 75m out...

    Refereeing decisions

I see that point, but disagree. I hate it that the ball seems to come out of a scrum 10% of the time. I want to see backlines launch an attack, not the ball to be kept in while one team tries for a penalty. The purpose of a scrum is to restart play, not to create another stoppage.

    Refereeing decisions

Has anyone ever seen a team penalised for not using it after a call of 'use it'? I genuinely have never seen it, think it's a free kick? Could be a red card for all I know.

Yeah I'm loving this. Going back and watching the 2013 Lions series (stopping at half time in game 3). Great to see these old games in full.

Yeah good call I will move it over.

    Waratahs 2022

I don't think it's quite that. There are certain current and ex-players in Australian rugby who resent the focus of Super teams on unproven youth. There's a degree of self-interest, as often they saw themselves repeatedly passed over for opportunities, with players seen as less deserving...

    Waratahs 2022

Regardless of who did or didn't start in the Shute, this situation has turned into a mess. The victim of this is Donaldson, who now goes into his first start under a lot more pressure than he would otherwise. He's on a hiding to nothing now. I feel for the kid, he's done nothing wrong.

    SRAU RD 8 - Reds v Brumbies

It's definitely a thing. Sorry to derail the thread (though the match was a week ago), but I found a guy like Wycliff Palu fell victim to this a bit. A lot of people knocked him because he didn't play the way they felt a big Islander 8 should play - a lot of carries, rolling over people...

    Wallabies 2021

This post reminds me of what Dru said on this very page: I expect Rennie will be now having real second thoughts about Timani based on him shagging one of Tomikins mates. It's this type of piercing analysis that sets GGR apart.

    SRAU RD 8 - Reds v Brumbies

I guarantee you if he was a Kiwi he'd walk into the ABs and scare the shit out of us every time he caught the ball.

    Waratahs 2022

They've said he's a backrower in their media release, but then tweeted a clip of him playing 12 for the Sunwolves.......

Maybe, but I think Wilson is up to it. He's been a hard worker for the Reds before, I think he can get in the trenches a bit more than he did in Gold last year.
