    Wallabies 2021

I do wonder if the Queensland Government is picking up the phone to RA, in the same way they did to the NRL about Origin 1.

    Wallabies 2021

All the time. In their defence, I actually WAS weak as piss, so I couldn't really argue. Might have been why I didn't make the cut professionally. Or get promoted beyond the 4ths in second div Subbies.

    Wallabies 2021

In these big squads I can never get too outraged about people being left out, as generally the unlucky players are competing for spots 28-38 anyway. So I can quibble with this or that but there's nothing seismic here. The one that leaves me perplexed is Sita Timani over Trevor Hosea. If this...

So no Vunivalu or Petaia for the French series either. A bit annoying but neither are hammer blows, IMO.

    Wallabies 2021

Yeah I've still got a weird feeling the French are going to pull some last minute bullshit here.

Neither. Then again I was far from sold on Paisami at 12 before last Wallaby season, and he was one of our best in the end. I'm still picking 12. To'omua and 13. Paisami for the first test though. I just like that balance a bit better, but willing to give Perese a shot either on the wing or on...

    Wallabies 2021

Well I think Hooper did take a pay cut due to COVID, and then negotiated a sabbatical as a compromise with RA to allow him to recoup his lost income while still remaining contracted. Whereas Rodda was faced with a pay cut, and chose to quit entirely and move offshore permanently. So a...

    This makes me nervous: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/we-ll-do-whatever-it-takes-rugby-australia-races-to-save-france-test-series-20210530-p57wh4.html

I like LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), he's a test player. Physical, tough, big motor, hurts blokes. All he has to do is show a little bit of form in the next few weeks and he's in my test XV. Same goes for other proven performers like Nic White, Harry Wilson, Scott Sio.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

If I'm at Stan I'm also introducing a live taping of the Rugby Ruckus podcast with Kimber and Turinui. Fox Footy do it with their weekly breakdown/analysis podcast with Leigh Montana and David King, and I find it a good watch. Obviously it's not huge on visuals, it's just interesting chat...

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

Hard to tell but think they'd be getting a fair bit of Government money to help with the bid.

    Wallabies 2021

Yeah the whole article had a weird feel to me. Surely the Force or Rebels or even the Brumbies would at least make Gill an offer, the question would be if it's even close to what he'd get in Japan.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

Not nearly to the same extent. There is a sizeable cohort of Australian soccer fans who prefer a foreign league to the local offering - the Premier League, Champions League, Serie A etc. How many local rugby fans really care about those competitions? I'm sure they would watch if they had the...

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

I don't believe so. I heard the reason the Argies pulled out was that they don't have the cash to host it effectively. We were shit scared of them as Gus Pichot has so much clout that there was a view they would win purely because of his popularity with World Rugby delegates.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

So the A-League have signed on with Channel 10, and their soon to be launched streaming service Paramount+. Getting roughly the same $$ as rugby, and the promise of a game every Saturday night on Channel 10's main channel. Yet another sport turning their back on Fox/Kayo and seeking greener...

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

My understanding was USA was more likely to pitch for 2031, which gives them a bit more lead time to establish the game over there. If that turns out to be the case that probably makes everyone's decision a lot easier.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

But the Round 10 game was Rebels vs Brumbies, I think? So it's not a like-for-like comparison. That game was never going to draw a big audience.

Australian Bid for 2027 World Cup

Wouldn't shock me to see Adelaide get a run, surely they could put on a good show at the Adelaide Oval?

    Rugby Championship 2021

Interesting no Bledisloe game in Sydney. I thought there was a long-term agreement with the NSW Government, but obviously that is not the case any more. Not that I am complaining, Homebush is a graveyard for our Bledisloe ambitions.

The current issue with Stan's coverage in bars/pubs....

Is it? Runner and his mates seem reasonable enough, I can understand not signing up to Stan if you're not THAT into rugby.
