Following on from Crashys post I was just looking at the Warringah team sheets for tomorrow and makes for interesting reading as it highlights the challenge for rugby administrators. The Rats have named 15 reserves for 2nd and 3rd grade colts. If they all get half a game that means 30 players...

Soccer is killing it, junior rugby League is also dying a slow death.

Talking to a Newport dad who has a son in the juniors and the real worries come about participation. At rugbys peak it was one of the largest clubs with almost 500 kids from minis to Opens. This year they are somewhere in the 200's and the minis have fallen off a cliff. Fast forward 15 years...

Its a concern but I think the right call is not to stretch them into committing to an amount of grades which forces players to back up.

Maybe its time for subbies to revisit the no grade colts in the comp. Surely a 4th grade Gordon or easts playing for Hills or the Rams giving the other 6 teams game makes sense rather than more byes?

Anything is better than yet another two weeks off and a bye. Clubs have commitments to sponsors and support groups that would be left in the lurch. They will be playing first grade regardless of the division they get thrown into.

Even if they can field a couple of grades would be more useful rather than 2 byes at this late hour.

Will blow a big hole in the draw with 2 more byes making it harder to keep players focused and engaged.. Lets hope they can pull something out of the fire.

Div 2 is 3 grades and a colts. Last we heard Hills were struggling for colts? who are you referring too? Massive rain band hitting later this week, could force Muir ole trials to be canned.
