    Australian Rugby / RA

RA are accountable to their members. Under RA constitution, Rebels, Tahs and Brumbies don't get a vote any more, the number of votes has reduced, so everyone with a vote now has a bigger influence including the state member unions. The clubs have a significant influence on NSWRU and QRU...

I agree we shouldn't care, but RA is forced too. The reality is the clubs have a huge say in NSWRU and QRU (and the others), and given the loss of independent Super Rugby votes, their voting influence on RA is getting larger and larger.

A quick google suggests it's 4 weeks + 10 days over Christmas, which would work out to be 6 weeks-ish if taken in one block With Super Rugby trials starting 3 Feb, you'd imagine the Super Rugby teams would want the players training all through January

Interesting to see what constraints they appear to be working under. Financial (obviously), so no new teams and no new contracts, can't piss off the clubs, have to give players an off season (how many weeks in latest CBA?) And then all the comments at the Roar suggest alternatives that don't...

    Wallabies 2024

John Eales medalist shortlists announced. 2024 winner is going to be Bobby Valetini, Fraser McReight or Harry Wilson. I think I'm right in saying only Wales, Georgia and TRC tests included

    Wallabies 2024

Agreed, the game against South Africa in Brisbane this year is one we would probably all like to forget.

    Wallabies 2024

Argies really get to see the country. Their last 10 test matches have been (2023) Parramatta, Gold Coast, Townsville, Parramatta, Newcastle, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra, Perth, Gold Coast (2014)

    Ballymore Redevelopment

Any eastern stand they put in is going to be pretty brutal for afternoon games without a particularly tall western stand. Has that ever been considered? Any good solutions there?

Yeah, but by cutting teams you wouldn't be removing the top colts teams at each club, you'd be removing the bottom ones. So losing players at each end.

Not sure removing 20 to 40 players from each club is actually that positive for the game here Unless the reforms Sully talks about happens, aren't you just removing the base of the pyramid for all these teams?

    Wallabies 2024

Hansen has never played more games in a season for Connaught than the 15 games he played for the Brumbies in 2021, and he was starting for Ireland after 9 games. Whatever transformed Hansen into a world-class winger, it wasn't lots of games

    Super Rugby Pacific 2025

Good that the TV viewership is up

Among many others, Lynagh, Seru Uru, Daugunu, Korobiete and Vunivalu depending on your view. Tupou gets a pass due to age

I reckon you are missing Cully's point here. It's not the players born overseas, or with heritage that are the issue being raised, it's the ones who were developed here, who played age group levels and had Super Rugby development contracts. All of the cost is paid by one nation, and then the other gets...

    Wallabies 2024

Going to start being a bit of a procession of this I suspect. Hockings and Lucas are eligible next year

And they certainly wouldn't know anything about opposition teams from different comps

There's a nice window here for pre-season games against Japanese teams

    Brumbies 2025

Starting to get into Waratahs '24 territory here unfortunately

    Queensland Reds 2025

It's a bit of a straight shoot out between Lynagh and HMP at the moment isn't it? Games on 27/10 and 4/11, fly to England, 8/11 and then 17/11. Good hitouts for them both

    Queensland Reds 2025

That's what, 15 weeks away? Without knowing any details of the surgery, that seems pretty aggressive. What's the return-to-play for a shoulder reconstruction?
