    Jake White Quits Brumbies

I think my original post is party moot, as we now know family reasons played a large role, but nonetheless I thought it proper to reply. The first point about citizenship was talked about in the press a month or so ago. The gist of the article was: White is considering applying for australian...

    Nick White step up son.

Link has form with weird selections. I agree with most on the tight 5 selections being off. But to his credit, when they don't work out, historically he learns from his mistakes.

Parochial nonsense is the whole reason we play. This is test rugby we're talking about. You don't have to be born here to wear the jersey, but you do have to commit to it. Jake White hasn't committed to it.

Whatever money the NZRU where offering I'm sure clairmont could have paid more. Imagine what McCaw could earn in France? Money matters but it's all relative.

    Jake White Quits Brumbies

I think he was a great All Blacks coach because he was a great coach representing his country with supreme motivation. If Jake White was serious about coaching Australia he would have finished his contract with the brumbies, and then taken over from link, either after this world cup or the...

Lets assume he's leaving because he's homesick. Do you really want the national coach to be a bloke (regardless of where he was born) who doesn't see the country he is representing as his home? What motivates him if not pride in country? Do you think graham henry did it for the paycheck?

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Exactly the point. Winning rugby games is secondary to producing a fine young man in any school of integrity. If the student gets injured and can't play anymore, does he stop being a worthy student? Schools can do what they like, they have their reasons. But I think a rule like this would...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

I think the best way to solve this problem is require all scholarships to start in grade 7. See what schools actually care about the kids welfare. Especially once they turn 16 and decide they don't want to play rugby anymore.

If he is leaving for the reason reported (that he missed out on the Wallaby job), I think it validates the ARU's decision not to pick him as coach. There was talk months ago that White was seeking Australian citizenship and still hoped to coach the wallabies after Mckenzie. If that was the...

Can we get sitauti back from the rebels? Talk in their thread is that he has been let go. Come home son.

All Blacks v Springboks - Eden Park, Sept 14th 2013

Yep, he's in a sling. Shoulder surgery I imagine.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

I think this is a reasonably fair reaction to this problem. Scholarships haven't ruined QLD GPS sport, but they have definitely taken something away from it. The whole school doesn't seem to get involved in supporting the first teams like they did in the past. I think the contest has...

    James O'Connor misses flight

I reckon rathbone should have got the call up to sure up the squad a bit. Bethams hands are too dodgy for test rugby.

    TRC 2013 touring squad

Does anyone have a list of currently injured players? I really don't understand why Kepu is touring when slipper can play TH. Hope Hooper doesn't get injured.

    Flashback to 96 .

I'd love to see compulsory full lineouts again. It gave the backs so much more space.

Whenever the ball got passed to a stationary player in that clip the stationary player immediately threw it someone else.

    Wallaby Locks - The Future

I still think second row is out weakest position. Horwill is the only lock we currently have who would get a start in any of the other top 6 rugby nations. We have a lot of super rugby standard second rowers, but we're very thin when it comes to test standard players.

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

To clarify my above point, I don't want to see club teams playing state teams.
