    Reds 2014

I'm very happy about Meehan coming on board. If we were to get Dean Benton that would be the icing on the cake.

    Pumas v Wallabies, Rosario, 5th October 2013

I had no problem with the stamp by the Pumas 9. Hands off the ball or they bleed. That's how it should be.

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

I agree with the need for a short competition. I think if we had a 10 team comp, 9 games and then a finals series would be the perfect amount. Just enough rugby to keep people interested, but not too much as to saturate. If teams were to play once a weekend, it would fit this 3 month...

Springboks v All Blacks, Johannesburg, Oct 5th 2013

Beasts tackle was managed well. It didn't have enough arms in it but it wasn't so bad a shoulder charge as to warrant a card. Owens had a pretty decent game I thought.

    Ewen McKenzie: Wallaby Coach

I want to see a grand slam tour. The wallabies owe it to the country after how shit they have been this year.

    Pumas v Wallabies, Rosario, 5th October 2013

Kuridrani surprised me. Didn't think he had it in him. Hooper had a phenomenal game as well. I dare say Lilo is the weakest link in the backline at the moment. Especially with Speight soon to be gunning for the Tomanes wing spot. Still don't rate Kepu, Alexander and Simmons. Happy to see...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

All valid points. I think the ARU should be trying to get it on ONE HD, ideally they'd tie it in with the rights to show wallabies tests. The force, brumbies and rebels already fly second string teams around the country for trial matches, the new spending required in travel cost wouldn't be...

3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Each option has been discussed at length on this forum, yet no real consensus is ever reached. I thought I would include a somewhat detailed poll. Vote away and Discuss.

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

Maybe a workable solution would be to restrict the Sydney Uni shute shield team to fee paying students only, whilst the sydney uni 3rd tier team could operate under a different set of rules.

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

You can't have it both ways Bruce. I'm sure the other 8 or 9 clubs that remain in the shield (plus the 1 or 2 subbies clubs that might make the step up) will gladly pick up the slack. Consider the alternative: 3 or 4 sydney clubs with corporate sponsorship, as well as university and waratahs...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

9 initial teams: UQ Bond-GC Griffith-Sunnybank UC (with Brumbies backing) UWA (with Force backing) Melbourne Uni (with Rebels backing) Sydney Uni UNSW - possible partnership with Randwick UWS - Parramatta Ideally the 10th team would be Newcastle Uni Rugby club. But they would need a lot of...

ARU moves to kill off club player payments: A 3rd tier, club rugby and the $60k persuader

I actually think this university idea has legs. In queensland alone you have UQ, Bond-GC Breakers and Griffith-Sunnybank pretty much ready to go. The brumbies have UC ready to partner with a club, and Sydney Uni are a rugby powerhouse as well. The success or failure of this project will...

Treat this bloke like an adult and I bet he will aim up and behave like one.

I can't work out if you are serious or rather a pisstake of the stereotypical precious kiwi.

    2013 EOYT

I'd like to see Pyle, Skelton, Godwin and Speight get a run. As well as a few players that have been looked over during the RC such as Gill, Hanson, Robinson and maybe Timani if he is committing to Australian Rugby.

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

Valid points, but whilst having teachers coach would be preferable, an external coach, an old boy or a parent could also do the job. You kids to play for their school by giving them the option - and making it an attractive option. Cut them a jersey deal with the ARU supplier to make it cheap...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

IMO a horrible idea even if done for the right reasons. Schoolboy rugby is special in a way club rugby (especially junior club rugby) is not. No u17 club team gets to play in front of a crowd of 10,000. No club team has 100 years of continuous history behind it. If you made rugby totally...

I agree with your sentiment, but the loosie in the EPS is probably the most talented of the lot.

You blokes would have a field day critiquing the QLD GPS. Nudgee do what scots have done in Basketball - but for nearly every sport, every year, for the last 20 years. And everyone other school is somewhat guilty as well.
