3rd tier is back in 2014 [Discontinued]

Country teams aren't going to happen, they don't make commercial sense. A canberra or newcastle based team will be the closest thing to a country team. And a one city comp devalues the experience. Cricket is only doing it because 1 day cricket is dying and they have to keep it alive until the...

All Blacks v Wallabies, Dunedin, 19th October 2013

I wouldnt go as far as to call tonight kiwi side a 'B' team, but keep in mind that the wallabies still failed to beat a team missing McCaw, Carter and Smith - who are each the best player in the world in their position. Plus Kaino is still overseas, Retalic was on the bench, Jane was injured...

All Blacks v Wallabies, Dunedin, 19th October 2013

Quade Cooper has been Australia's best. Horwill, Simmons, Alexander, Slipper tied for worst.

I hate watching the wallabies play. No enjoyment, just frustration. No wonder crowds are dropping.

Hugh can you please, please, please make mention of junior scrum laws. My suggestions were: - No competition points awarded if a team starts the game uncontested, or if they go uncontested during the game without suffering injured players. Aka it's only okay to go uncontested if all your props...

Back to the rugby - who is replacing Lilo? And who is taking the kicks at goal?

Maximising the opportunity of Rugby 7s in Australia

I'd really like to see the ARU try and tie all the regional 7's events (like the Noosa, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney Etc.) into one single domestic circuit. Try and get a few sponsors on board for all the events, and maybe even get a few big financial firms to field teams as...

    Gold Coast 7's - 12 & 13 Oct

This event is just simply too expensive for the target audience. They want young people there yet they charge over 7 bucks for a light beer. Anything over $6 for a mid strength is taking the piss - which you can afford to do during sold out Lions tour, but not when you have a failing event...

All Blacks v Wallabies, Dunedin, 19th October 2013

I think one of the bigger problems facing the wallabies is the lack of combinations, and the subsequent inability to build them due to depth and injury. - Horwill needs a partner in the second row that is upto the standard. - Mowen/Fardy/Hooper isn't well balanced. - Lilo/AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) lacks in so many...

All Blacks v Wallabies, Dunedin, 19th October 2013

The biggest losses for the AB's use to be McCaw, Carter, Nonu and Smith (2008-2011). But due to depth nowadays losing Read and Retalic is probably worse for them. I rate us a chance in this game simply because C. Smith is out. His combination with Nonu is the glue that holds the All Blacks...

This years all blacks team was missing Carter, SBW, Jane, Kaino and it didn't bother them one bit.

I think the dire state has as much to do with lack of grassroots foundations as it does the performance of the wallaby team. The wallabies will rise and fall with the relative strength of the team. They always have. But people seek more consistency in the team they support. They see NZ and SA...

    School sporting scholarships/recruitment

I've always thought that there should be regional division schools rugby in term 2 and then GPS/CAS/ISA whatever in term 3. Longer season and fairer criteria for rep selection.

    2013 EOYT

Agree. But Gill is on the outer at the moment after being dropped from the TRC squad. He should still tour but it's not a forgone conclusion he'll see much if any game time.

    Rebels 2014

Rebels pack just needs to step up next year. They have the talent and all of them will have a full pre-season. No excuses if they don't perform.

    Rebels 2014

I think the rebels pack will be strong next year but consistent scrum dominance won't come for another season or two. The teams success will rely on the halves combination firing. The rest of the backline has enough quality. Even though I don't like the signing of Kiwis, I do like the look...

No one said he was a fluffybunny but. He's more comparable to Cooper in that he is mercurial on the field.

I think in an ideal world you'd have both the super b and then another comp after the super rugby. That is what the south africans do. The comp during the super rugby helps players returning from injury and also keeps the second string player match fit.
