don't think the Cluch video picked it up, but Joeys had arguably their best forward in the bin from the 57 min mark (using the cluch time), and their captain off for the whole of the 2nd half (severely bruised ribs - he could hardly breathe).

at the risk of labouring the point, Sua'ali'i was signed by the Rabbitohs in Feb 2019 after having played in their U16 Harold Matthews league since 2018. The crucial difference is that he played in their SG Ball team this season and was paid for doing so. This makes him, by definition, a...

    NSW AAGPS 2020

there are lots of kids who have their fees and allowances paid by NRL clubs at GPS schools. The crucial difference with Sua'ali'i is that he has also been directly paid for playing league games this season (early), in addition to the background contract payments which he receives, and will...

spin doctors and social media can dress this up however they like, the simple matter is that Sua'ali'i is barred from GPS rugby because he's a professional rugby league player.

yeah, I was being generous. For a team to lead by 4 tries to zip at halftime and then to ship 5 tries in the 2nd half is beyond careless. The boys will be doing their penance at training this week. On a side note, it was interesting to note the scrums in that game. Scots scrum coach Damien...

these are two lineups from the Trial (8 Aug) v yesterday for Joeys v Scots. Big names missing for Scots are Brial and Kalokalo (others?)

thought the score flattered Scots in the end - they were never really in it. Mind you, they had a big gun in their mid-field whom they didn't use effectively - big unit who looked all at sea most of the game, but very dangerous with ball in hand and a little room. I would play him at No8...

you misread the comment - the difference is "being paid". Lots of kids have been signed by NRL clubs over recent years but not been paid while they are at school. The contract they signed is a commitment to play (and be paid) when they leave school. Big difference.

The situation with Sua'ali'i is very simple - he is being paid under a contract with the NRL and is therefore professional and therefore disqualified from playing GPS Rugby which, by definition, is exclusively amateur. End of...

I thought his paymasters at the Bunnies have nixed him playing rugby while he's on contract with them - limiting him to SGBall or whatever that mungo comp is called.

drum from HH is that Paddy Burns will wear No2 on saturday. Also the prognosis for Luca Antico is looking positive - hopeful he will be good for the 1st comp game on Sat week (v Kings at HH), although realistically it will probably be the 2nd comp game. In the meantime it seems the temptation...

struggles at scrum-time, that's the only concern. If you watched the Scots game you will have noticed he got popped first scrum. No doubt Joeys will be working on this aspect this week. His Dad's a shore boy who saw the light!

Joeys have lost their hooker Ben Wallace for the season with a broken ankle sustained in the last few minutes against Scots. Their scrum will suffer so the forwards battle will be interesting against View. Will be interesting also to see what happens to their backline - the prognosis for the...

    NSW AAGPS 2020

I think we'll see a different game from Joeys against View on Saturday. Even if the No10 is cleared of major damage to his popped shoulder, they'll certainly leave him out and the backline structure will be radically affected. Ben Dowling is a fantastic footballer, but 15 is his natural fit...

Joeys backs much smaller than the Scots boys - Year 10 boy (Max Jorgensen, son of Peter) playing OC marking monster Josh Wong who is a very good and dangerous player. He was the MOM for mine, outshining the much-hyped fullback Kalokalo who has recently signed up to the dark side. But gutsy...

I don't think there were real games on Joker. Both 1sts and 2nds were shown as playing on Doyle 4 from 11:45am to 1:15pm, so I suspect there were only a series of trial quarters.

FWIW the Joeys website shows it the other way around - Rugby at the start of Term3 (25th July) and the GPS Athletics on 19th September. Not sure I believe this as I think the calendar has not been updated or corrected for the current thinking?
