Joeys 1sts played Marist Canberra (and won 83-15) and Joeys 2nds played Marist Ashgrove 1sts and drew 12-12. I don't know which Barker team struggled against Ashgrove just recently, but I suspect Barker might really struggle against Nudgee on Saturday.

perhaps you need to rephrase: "Barker beat a Joeys side with no hooker, no 10, no lineout and a team riddled with flu in a preseason trial". This same Barker side was smoked by Scots who were then smoked by Joeys. That's where the smoke is "brother".

highly unlikely you might want to consider how a Joeys-heavy GPS 1sts thrashed a Barker-heavy CAS 1sts by 43-14, with Joeys players scoring 5 of the 7 tries and 33 of the 43 points.

one thing people forget about that Barker v Joeys trial was that Joeys were trialling a 2ndXV LH prop throwing into lineouts, which meant Joeys couldn't win a lineout to save their lives, including 2 on the 5 metre line that ordinarily would result in meat pies. There's not much doubt that, with...

as a Yr12 boy I would have thought you would know that there is no such thing as a "Ladder" that includes trials. and how do you square this (your) statement - "View had the two Australian schoolboys in our team out" - with being a Joeys Yr12 boy?:rolleyes:

if you want to get pedantic, you'd have to say that Joeys won the 2021 Premiership because after the one and only round, they had the equal most competition points and the best For and Against.

well, I guess we can agree to differ on that. There's not much doubt that Joeys would have smoked them in the comp.

au contraire - I think you must "off" missed the real story of View-Joeys trial game on 29th May 2021. For those who don't recall, this was the final trial round of the ill-fated 2021 season and Joeys were still experimenting with their lineup and systems in preparation for the upcoming season...

I call BS to that - I was in Bay 3 between the Joeys and View boys and Joeys were clearly louder and more consistent, despite View's drums. Also the View boys jeered the Joeys kicker (despite being reminded by the admittedly patronising PA dude), particularly in the 2nd half as the game was...

Paul Petersen was a 1st XV Prop, Open 100m sprinter and Open Shot Putter for Joeys in 1965 [edit: and 1966]

technically, 2nd last since their For and Against was better than Kings ;)

a couple of trivia points: Scott Fay is current coach of Joeys 13As, Peter Jorgensen is father of Max. There were some obvious standouts in that team, not least the very quiet Graeme Thompson (No13), one of the best schoolboy players I've ever seen. He's the older brother of Joeys current 1st...

good luck - not the first and won't be the last to try. Joeys love it when oppositions fixate on one player - creates opportunities elsewhere.

got to feel for the boys from High, struggling against an unsympathetic system in their non-rugby-friendly school, but still fronting up and copping a flogging every week. Incidentally, last Monday saw the funeral of legendary High Coach Tony Hannon, who produced some very good 1st XV teams...

"another New supporter"? - my blood runs cerise and blue, B&W. Just pleased to see such exemplary behaviour by the New boys.
