    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I think they're broke enough that it's not an idle threat.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Look, there's a tiny piece of my heart that hopes there's some substance to what they can argue and I'll be there for Round 1/2 in Tarneit wearing some Green and Black Clash Gear for the Rebels. But remaining Court action is about money changing hands. Uncontracted players will quite reasonably...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

If I'm wrong I'm wrong. I think RA is probably stretching a little on some of the points made in the press release, but if the consortium is genuinely asking for top up funding over and above the distribution the other sides receive I don't see how that could be considered a viable bid by anyone.

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Given today's news, I would not necessarily be surprised to see Tuipulotu the Third play in both tournaments this year.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Teamwise probably no one. Possibly a slight support towards Force or Brumbies simply because it's not Sydney or Brisbane. Primary love will be towards players who've bought in and VIC juniors. Locals in particular, but I think also Big Sammy who's a huge factor in our internal culture, Ekuasi...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

The only people with stakes to fight for are the ex directors. If the Consortium hasn't put forward a reliable bid there's nothing else to push back against.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

It'll almost certainly be the Drua or a Pacific Barbarians or something playing the Lions instead. I'm going for BILs so in the end it doesn't "really" matter for me. However, depending on who Schmidt selects in his Wallabies side and if there would be some availability negotiations, I could...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I'll try and articulate slightly better now that I've had my coffee. What I'm disappointed in is that we didn't get a statement of substance. If in Mid-March we had something along the lines of: "Our preferred model remains 5 teams, the financial performance of both RA as a whole and the...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I will agree to disagree with the comments. RA has attempted to maneuver themselves into not being perceived as "the bad guys" from the start, and has hoped that someone else would make the hard call for them. I don't envy the position they found themselves in, and the choice they've made is...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Not a surprising end result. Not their fault we got into the mess, but lots of respect lost for RA not playing with a straight bat from the beginning about their preferred outcome. Hope as many players and coaches as possible get chances elsewhere, and another opportunity for Victorian Rugby...

    Brumbies 2024

6 feet underground is the only place for them. The pests, not the rugby team.

    Waratahs 2025

After his debut season Skelton basically started whenever fit for the Tahs and got plenty of runs out for the Wobs. When he arrived at Sarries, he wasn't guaranteed a place in the 23 outside of the international or rest weeks when Itoje/Kruis were unavailable: instead competing with the likes of...

    Rebels v Drua

Ekuasi the only man rested it seems. Unless I missed an injury.
  14. Highlander35

    Wallabies 2024

At this point, why wouldn't it be 40 man squad with ~8 positions taken up between "Team Rehab" and "Team Development".
  15. Highlander35

    Wallabies 2024

Anybody know what the plan is for the timing of Wallaby training squads over the finals? Will we see a Tahs & Force (apologies Westies, I think the Drua have a lot lot more to play for at us and at home) group named to begin training following this weekends games, or will it likely be week or...

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

So they've come away with an off-field yellow essentially? I think that's fair enough, so long as the next incident has no allowances made.

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

I think the worst possible outcome is getting thumped by another aussie side. Bring on the kiwis.

    Round 14: Brumbies v Rebels Fri 24th 7.35PM @ GIO STADIUM

I thought it was probably worth a yellow at the time with no head/shoulder/neck contact. The laws are the laws though, appropriate he's been picked up on it.

    Australian Rugby / RA

To put another twist on the doom and gloom, since Wessels was in my head from the Tahs thread late last week, this has been lurking in my mind over the weekend. Towards the end of his tenure, I heard Wessels argue, a couple of times, that a combination of: - The rules around import players...
