November Internationals (excluding Wallabies & NZ)

While he's certainly competent, he's not managed to bring whatever it was that made him a very good club/provincial coach into the international arena. Unless the RFU are sniffing a different batch of coke than I am, he needs to beat Japan, and probably beat them well, and that gets him through...

Scotland v Wallabies at Murrayfield 12.40am Mon 25 Nov

Primary injury for Scotland is Jack Dempsey. With the A Game against Chile the day before, you can reasonably expect that the team will be largely composed of the player's who have lined up against Fiji and South Africa, with some additional positional changes due to player availability. I've...

It was moderately funny that all 3 seemed to be pushing themselves as "not part of the old boys" when, at least Benazzi and Robinson very much are, just representing different factions.

Dempsey the biggest loss, but we do have the depth to cover in the back row. Williamson and Brown are highly rated but I think Townsend would have always wanted to see Craig in the lineup alongside Glichrist/Cummings for the last game.

    Refereeing decisions

I don't have a problem with it being a yellow card offence to attempt a rolling/twisting cleanout and land on a leg accidently. Being a red card without malice is slightly odd, but I guess as long as it's consistent it sets a standard.

    Rugby 7s general chat

Reading that, it really feels Sevens has gone nowhere since COVID. They were running 10 events with 16 teams each back in 2019 for the Men, that's down to 7 with 12 for the upcoming series with no Vegas and no European events. There's no Sevens at the Commonwealth Games in 2026 (and probably...

November Internationals (excluding Wallabies & NZ)

I hope it's overturned so he won't miss the game against your mob or the champions cup fixtures, but it doesn't really concern me. It had little to no material impact on the game, at least as compared to the makeshift back three, the lack of experienced depth at lock and tighthead, and the...

    Refereeing decisions

Don't have footage of it on hand, but I'm interested as to how the TMO came to the decision of the red card on Cummings in the SCO-SAF game overnight. I think that's a no brainer yellow: croc roll gone wrong, falls with sideways motion landing on defender leg, high risk of knee injuries, it...

November Internationals (excluding Wallabies & NZ)

Disappointed that the margin looks blown out by the last try but South Africa well deserved winners. Bit of a sloppy one all round, but an overall competitive game where the Bokke aerial strength, scrum pressure and defence on the 5m line was a level above. It certainly wasn't the sole factor...

Radike playing 80 minutes of wing and Phipps playing 26. What a silly time

November Internationals (excluding Wallabies & NZ)

I would suggest, excluding injured players for both sides, they were missing at minimum 9 or 10 of their best "available" side, as opposed to 4, maybe 5 for us due to the out of window nature of the game. As far as I can tell every one of the Fiji players was signed to the Drua or the Fiji...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Nothing particularly surprising. RA seeking accommodations due to their own unpreparedness, Consortium less than transparent on funding arrangements, Tim North knows everyone and anyone in the legal profession.

    Lions Tour 2025

Yeah he is. Will be great. Originally I was just going to join in for the Melbourne games and the Sydney Tests like I did with him in 2013, as his brothers had planned to come out and do the whole shebang, but they've pulled out for personal reasons, so I benefit.

The old man organised ours, believe we've got all 3 Tests plus the Melbourne Midweek.

The key question here I guess is, particularly given that they've ended up rolling over to basically every club demand, why is it starting in 2025, instead of in 2022.

    Wallabies 2024

We've named 6 centers, plus Tom Jordan (primarily plays fly half for Glasgow, likely better suited to 12 or 15 at International level), listed another pure center (Cam Redpath), and a winger who can play center (Kyle Steyn) as unavailable due to injury. Mo is there to be cap tied, not because...

I don't mean to break up the circlejerk, but it feels like there has been quite a significant realignment of Club/International Scheduling from European Rugby over the past 5 years. European clubs shifted their seasons to accommodate for the changing of the June International Window to a July...
