    Wallabies 2023

OK I'll bite. Why? What evidence has there been to suggest we should dispense with a man who just weeks ago was determined to be the captain of the team. Again. And who last night won the Waratahs Player of the Year award. Again. I don't think he played well in South Africa, but he has earned...

OK. Whatever. You can waste all the breath you want debating whether Hooper should or shouldn't be picked. The pure fact is if his calf is right he's going to be.

    Wallabies 2023

Yes. And the fact that he's the current captain of the side.

    Wallabies 2023

Well that's a pretty basic question, because the answer depends entirely on the state of Michael's calf. If it's right then he's on the plane. And probably starting at 7 with the c beside his name.

    Bledisloe 2 2023 @ Dunedin 12:35PM Sat 5 Aug

The rot started after half time, when it feels like the ABs refocussed and got on top physically. And we lost our way a bit with ball in hand - a few ill-advised one-out runs which left us isolated, a couple of missed cleanouts. This was a collective failure, not down to one player...

Not sure about that. I know his older brother went to Shore. I think the Waugh family was doing OK. But that's not really relevant I suppose.

Few parallels with Nemani Nadolo, another who supposedly 'got away'.

    Wallabies 2023

I'm not generally a fan of multiple captains but I think Eddie pulled the right rein here. Both men are outstanding leaders but unlikely to start in every game this season. It gives him a bit of freedom at the selection table and I can't see too many issues if both are on the field at the same time.

    Waratahs 2024

Money must have been good for Harris, because that's the only explanation as to why he'd go. Not like he was short of starting opportunities here. Or that he's in a better spot for his career in Perth playing for a generally shithouse team. He could be a good quality Wallaby, but this move...

    Wallabies 2023

You feel like they'd leak TKB or at least hint at it to journos to soften the ground before the squad is announced. Would surely be a first to pick a bloke who's never played Super Rugby in Australia, nor ever intends to.

    Wallabies 2023

Weird to look back on our team in the last test of 2022. 15. Tom Wright, 14. Jordan Petaia, 13. Len Ikitau, 12. Reece Hodge, 11. Mark Nawaqanitawase, 10. Ben Donaldson, 9. Jake Gordon; 1. James Slipper (c), 2. Folau Fainga’a, 3. Allan Ala'alatoa, 4. Nick Frost, 5. Cadeyrn Neville, 6. Jed...

I would not argue that, no. If he leaves after the World Cup it would be pretty shambolic, unless he wins it in which case he can do what he likes.

I'm not jazzed about it either, but I don't think we're on a bad course at the moment. I haven't been on the forums for a while, so maybe I'm out of the loop on the latest grievances, but the game seems in OK shape.

Phil Waugh looks to have got the gig as CEO. Suck on that David Croft.

    Wallabies 2023

It's weird, there is no two ways about it. I am of the belief he is signed to be our coach to the 2027 World Cup. Not Director of Rugby, not High Performance Tsar, not Spiritual Guru. Head coach. RA and Eddie have done nothing to disavow me of this notion. So him pulling the plug later this...

His contract runs to 2027, I can't believe he would just say "I'm coaching for three months and that's it"

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

Word from my NZ sources is that was an understrength team, especially in the front row. I don't know any of our guys, but I thought we just looked bigger and stronger than them. Not sure how much to read into that one game and a reality check may take place on Saturday. But who cares, it's...

It only confirms my belief that Eddie's natural home is right here on the forum. Scrawling a team in the middle of round two is peak GAGR. In two weeks he will be shouting at nearby spectators that Hooper is really a 12.

Wallabies v France, Paris, Sun 6th Nov 7am AEDT

I've never really been much of a fan actually. He did OK, earned another shot. Hope that delivered the insight you clearly crave.

Wallabies v Springboks - Adelaide Oval, Sat 27th August, 2022

Every year Hodge plays like shit for the Rebels, and somehow scrapes into the Wallaby squad due to injuries to other players. And then he arses his way into the team (again due to injuries) and is so bloody solid wherever he's put. It's remarkable. You make a few good points KOB, there is a...
